Missing stamps on summits and huts

I read on the forum that there is sometimes a problem with missing stamps on summits. I don't hike in the hills with the purpose of collecting stamps, but it really annoys me if I plan a trip to the other end of Slovenia to get a transversal stamp, and it's not there.

When I talked to a member of PD Solčava a while ago and mentioned they should fix the stamp on Krofička, he said he had already suggested it many times, but no one moves. He said I should call too and complain there's no stamp, not once, but ten times so they'll be fed up with me. (the stamp still isn't there)
And I think that's the only way in our country to get something done, you have to persistently nag.

The logbook of the Slovenian Mountain Trail lists which mountaineering societies take care of certain control points, so it's best to contact them if there's no stamp somewhere.
So for the stamp on Slivnica, which apparently isn't there, PD Cerknica takes care (040 904 726).

For the couriers' and signalsmen's trail, they might know more here: http://www.drustvo-prijateljev-poti.si/

For us hikers, all that's left is to post fresh info on stamps promptly and nag the mountaineering societies together.

lp, Andrej

I don't collect any stamps, but I sympathize with hikers who do the traverse and have no proof of completed paths. So it's right to complain and alert the responsible to provide stamps. Still, the vandalism of some >"hikers"< who continue to take these relics home or wherever won't stop!!

I join the opinion of my predecessors and suggest we organize regarding info on missing stamps, contacts,... I know myself that on Mahavšček (V.Bogatin) and on M. Bogatin there is no stamp because they are destroyed, but I learned that stamps for the mentioned peaks you get in the hut under Bogatin. LP Andrej.

Last month I also visited Slivnica. Very nice trip. But I was also disappointed that the stamp is destroyed. In the hut they offered me some stamp that looked more like a company stamp than a mountain stamp... so I preferred without. Maybe they could put the real stamp in the hut, where it would be safer? After all, it's Dom na Slivnici in the booklet. Regards

The problem with stamps is not only on Slivnica. I face this problem on almost all peaks. Does anyone have a suggestion on how to solve this?zavijanje z očmi

I hike quite a bit in our hills and collect stamps for my own records and memories. So far I'm missing only a few from the highest summits of our Slovenia, and even those can mostly be gotten in a nearby hut after contacting hut keepers or parent PDs. LP Andrej

Also missing on Slemenova Špica. I was there about a month ago, we slogged 4h from Vršič, on the summit no stamp... nasmeh They don't have it in the hut either.

Anyway, for the transversal a photo from the summit counts too.

The stamp on Slemenova Špica is not on the summit but a few dozen meters lower, where it's also marked on the tree.

In the box on the tree there's only the wooden holder of the stamp inside, the rubber is missing...

We were there on 1.1.2008 and the stamp was still there.

There are many mountain huts on the transversal. On weekends they are usually open, otherwise not all, and you can get the stamp there. How can I get the stamp, e.g. Kriške gore during the week when the hut is closed?

I face the same problem myself, since I often head to the mountains during the week, but... I solve the problem by going to the same goal again over the weekend. LP Andrej

If we're already listing where stamps are missing, I can add my comment. On Gradiška Tura someone broke it into two parts (wooden handle and rubber, separately), so now it's completely unusable. Maybe someone has replaced it by now, I was there a month ago.

In my opinion, there should be stamps on all known two-thousanders in Slovenia. That seems somehow important to me, because two-thousanders are something special.
Then there's also the problem sometimes when you reach the summit, want to get the stamp and see it's all dried out or destroyed.jezen

They found a good solution for the summits around Pokljuka. Stamps are fixed into rocks or on iron rods—fixed, iron—so they can't be removed. You just need an ink pad if it's dried out.zavijanje z očmi

On most two-thousanders there are stamps anyway, on metal poles or in the rock - some are also ordinary rubber ones, which all too often end up in the homes of "collector hikers". I have the habit of signing the summit book and stamping my booklet to have one memory from the hill. I think it would work without stamps too - photos and some written word is worth just as much or even more along with the trip date.

Yeah, pics from the top are better and they stay longer in memory too. I've never been and won't be a stamp collector - that would really be the last thing I'd go to the mountains for...zavijanje z očmi

If there's already a stamp on the summit I take it, but I'd rather see some cute guy on the summit so I can take him down to the valley with me. I collect them. jezikvelik nasmehcool
