Bravo Andrej, Dušan, Peter and Janez, I think the order is like that by names, because I know two, the other two I'll meet sometime. All congratulations, and the brave have luck and you had it in all possible ways, but we all must admit that without good preparations and fitness, for which you yourselves took care, it wouldn't have happened. Once again bravo and sincere congratulations to everyone. Lp Borut.

I'm interested if anyone is going or if someone would go to this peak end of August (24.-30.). I'd like to join someone if they're going, and has space, easier cost sharing. Can also arrange van for 8 people almost free. Anyone?

Normal route to Tête Rousse hut, then to Goûter, bivouac, summit. Been there already, but could be some other route too. We'd sort that out......LP

I'd just ask if this is a quite demanding tour. Thanks for the answer

From train to Tête Rousse hut (2300-3100) basically dry hike, nothing special, above Tête Rousse cross steep couloir with constant stones flying (bowling alley) then secured climbing path on rocky ridge to Goûter hut (3800) (with or without crampons - depending on conditions) Above Goûter hut eternal snow to Vallot bivouac (4360) then narrow sharp Bosses ridge (very dangerous for slipping) to summit ridge stretching to top. Add height, variable weather, low temps, draw line, there's answer. For more - google is your friend winking
upper station TMB 2372m, right above hut Gouter 3786m1
Bowling alley, rocky ridge, above hut Gouter2
vast snowfields above Gouter hut towards the summit.3
no further pictures, as we had to turn back due to extremely strong wind above bivouac Vallot, just before Bosses ridge start.4

What knowledge is needed? Fitness is there, but in winter only Triglav, Grintovec, Skuta and Brana tried.
Thing is incomparably longer and higher, so really ask for more info from those who have been there. Thanks

movement in winter conditions (knowledge of proper! use of crampons, ice axe, complete winter gear), roped walking, high altitude walking +4000m, good psycho-physical fitness, common sense and good weather.

can you describe the route to the starting point by car, how long is the drive, where to go, and if you can just go on a "trip" with the little train up there - to the viewpoint platform? What cost does such a trip represent, and is it feasible in one day, or do you need to sleep somewhere. Thanks for any info.

Starting point - lower station of the mountain train in Le Fayet (few km further from St. Germain), morning train to Nid d'Aigle 2372m, where there's a hut and viewpoint. ATTENTION! http://www.compagniedumontblanc.com/fiches_en/Tramway_du_Mont-Blanc.html

To the starting point about 730 km from Ljubljana, we drove 7 hours at night and took turns driving. You go across the border, past Milan to Aosta valley, tunnel under Mt. Blanc, past Chamonix and St. Germain to the village Le Fayet. We slept in wonderful camp in Chamonix, price for 4 people was I think 25€. If you're there, take time and look thoroughly, worth it! Don't rush, you'll regret.

As for costs, calculate (fuel, tolls, tunnel toll, little train http://www.compagniedumontblanc.fr/pages/forfaits_tarifs_excursion_gb.html#tramway , all info on web, just search a bit). LP Andrej

In the mountaineering history of Ivanec and our whole region, Friday, 12 August 2011, will remain forever recorded as the day when eight members of the "Mountaineering Club Ivanec" stepped onto the highest peak of the Alps, Mont Blanc 4810m! The adventure started on 10 August in the first minutes, after months of preparations, the team headed through Slovenia and Italy to Chamonix in France. First by cable car, then by cogwheel railway, and loaded with gear for another 2 hours to the mountain hut Tête Rousse, where we overnighted at an altitude of 3167m. At dawn we set off over iced rock and falling rockfall to the Goûter hut at 3817 m as base camp, where at 02.00 hours under wind gusts we headed towards the summit. Despite all difficulties, increasingly strong up to storm wind, extremely low temperature below -20°C, fog, thin air, hidden crevices in the snow, over narrow iced ridges, the whole team proudly reaches the summit at 08.10! Weather conditions barely allowed a 10-minute stay on the summit itself, enough for unforgettable views, for an indescribable feeling of satisfaction, for a boyhood dream, for history! The descent with necessary continuous caution proceeded very quickly along the same path, so that we already at 18.00 hours happily began the celebration in the camp in the valley. Saturday passed in sightseeing Chamonix, the cradle of alpinism and mountaineering in general, so that we arrived happy in Ivanec in the evening hours.
Through this I greet the team from Slovenia whom we met at Aiguille du Goûter, the guys were returning from the Mont Blanc summit, the weather did not serve us as it did them, but persistence paid off. Of course greetings to Maja and Damjana, and see you soon in the Alps.
