Zlatko, the photo of Mrzla gora you sent me last week encouraged me to do this ascent. I wanted to catch a bit of winter conditions feel. Conditions were really almost ideal. If no major precipitation, this path to Mrzla gora will be dry soon! Matkov side of the mountain still quite snowy.

Conditions on today's ascent to Mrzla gora were solid given the very bad forecast. Lots of snow in gullies - easy passage, almost no snow on rocks. Otherwise some snowflakes fell and considerable fog.

Not the best weather forecast for Saturday didn't stop me from heading out in the dark to Matkov kot and towards Mrzla gora. Traces of southern snow remain only under Škaf, the jump below Latvica and on Latvica itself. Below the jump ice axe is definitely necessary. Above Latvica it's dry. I reached the summit around nine. First I planned to continue to Okrešelj, but then Krnička gora tempted me, so I headed there along the north ridge of Mrzla gora. The bottom third of the ridge is too difficult and crumbly, so I left the ridge and descended the east slope, which is also crumbly, to the connecting ridge of Krnička gora, the summit itself and on to Matkova krnica and back to Matkov kot.

The morning sun drives away the clouds.3
Jump under Latvica, straight across the snow to the right side of the jump.4

The summit section above Latvica is steep along the path.6
Turski žleb, Turska gora, Brana and Okrešelj express.7

A considerable part of the MG ridge is already behind me.10
Krnička gora appears before me with its entire ridge encircling Matkovo krnica to Matkove kope. The saddle-pass to Matkovo krnica is clearly visible.11
The ridge becomes impassable, so I move away to the slopes above Matkov kot.12
Only the slope is the hardest part, immensely crumbly, airy all the way to Škaf.13
And in moments of concentration I see Latvica a little differently.14
The hardest is behind me and I already feel like a lad saying goodbye to his beloved in the morning.15
And falls into the arms of another equally beautiful. Krnička gora has no stamp book, obviously big crowd since red dots he he.16
Clouds start piling around me, so per Pike expert's advice of these areas, I quickly find passage to Matkovo krnica past this jump at the saddle.17
And I'm already on the screes in Matkovi krnici, Matkova kopa posing before me.18
The shepherd hut in the cirque is still ruined, clouds have retreated from the sun, so as not to be completely alone I get company from a black heifer on the photo.19

And straight down from Mrzla gora to Krnička gora and further to M. krnica - quite demanding!
