Modest? This year I haven't seen so many yet, let alone picked. With all these pics from previous posts I can only agree with Lino... Me too 'darkness fell on my eyes'. Gorgeous, and in winter months they'll fit great in soups, risottos and similar goodies :-)

Today I stumbled upon quite a nice number of butter mushrooms and also a bunch of grey hares. Slippery jack only one, eaten by slug, so didn't want to be photographed.

Did it have spines under the cap? If yes, then it could be a slightly above average sized yellow hedgehog.
