Today 28.4.08 we visited Olševa. Solčava - Sv. Duh - Potočka Zijalka - Obel kamen - ridge of Olševa. Path leads from Sv. Duh past Rogar farm to Potočka z. and to the top of Olševa. Path mostly dry, some snow patches here and there. Path extremely beautiful and picturesque (nice forest below - then rugged rocky terrain). When we reached half of the ridge we turned back - still lots of snow in the second half. Snow still frozen, winter gear needed. Path extremely beautiful due to picturesque views - Raduha, Ojstrica, Rinke, Mrzla gora.. and view to Austrian side. To Obel kamen not too demanding. Return via panoramic road past Kisla voda to Logarska. Lp

Olševa is a wonderful mountain. Its main summit is called Govca 1929 m. Western summit is Obel kamen 1921 m. Eastern is Glatki vrh 1849m. Worth visiting all three. Regards Franc

I join your assessment that it's a wonderful mountain. The view from it is something that strikes you and I'm sending two more pictures that my son took from Olševa summit. Regards

This time Olševa let herself be visited. Start from farm Ošovnik, no snow until alpine pasture (don't know name), from there untracked, quite a bit of sinking in forest, towards summit much better. Views quite solid, nice cloud play. Down directly via gully to Ošovnik, upon arrival at car started raining. By a hair, haha.

On Friday 01.05.2009 we were at Ober kamen. To Potočka zijalka nothing special and quite some visitors (even in low hiking boots !) Storm did its thing, so occasionally need to push through fallen tree or branches. Above Potočka zijalka of course snow. Old snow is firm, use of ice axe when crossing gully highly recommended if not mandatory. Did not continue along ridge due to weather and collapsing or avalanches.

On Saturday nice weather, warm, pleasant, no snow on path except a little on top, north side in snow. Group from Črna had quite some snow on path, but I think no need for winter gear. Path from top of Govca towards Potočka quite damaged by avalanches, lots of branches on path, so some need to take action ... Flowers everywhere, almost every wall has primroses blooming and Olševa dressed in red of spring heather. Safe steps.

Today visited Olševa and Potočka zijalka and via Obel kamen to top of Govca and back to Sv. Duh. Nice weather occasionally light wind, on top sunny and no wind so could sunbathe a bit. Path already cleared of branches and trees, and met another hiker with chainsaw removing more if any left on path. Commendable!

Logarska: 5:48 Rogar: 6:35 Junction (Pot. zijalka - Austria): 7:23 First gate: 7:32 Obel kamen: 9:15 Despite cloudy morning at 5:00 we drive to Logarska. Higher up clearer. Park at Rogar and up steep. At junction turn left to Austria (not down to Sv. Lenart!!!) a bit up and level on marked path. When fixed ropes start (before rock) see path (right there) steep up into forest - use on return. Ropes in good condition - only (on first rocky slope pulled peg). No worry - goes without it too!! Soon first gate! For next descend a bit into abyss gully (well protected). Packs can leave above. Not for dizzy! - otherwise for experienced nothing special! Return and on path (back after last rope - left) steep into forest. Path not marked at start - visible so no problem. Steep forest/scree alternate. Full of flowers, wormwood bushes - great views (Košuta, Obir, P. Storžič...). Really interesting path. Faded marks and ropes appear - easy! Climb between stone towers (Olševa feature) and sweaty (steep!!) reach top. At top picnic alone - sun, great views... When descending to Zijalka and Rogar - up there columns of hikers. One more: Olševa full of caves couldn't resist climbing one. In one found (bit climbing) wooden carved trough (about 50cm - 80cm long). Very old - if grabbed by edges would crumble. Like someone once caught water drops for drinking. In cave corner lots of animal droppings - which?? Return from cave bit harder - shoe soles smeared with wet clay needed much caution descending. Very nice loop path!! No snow! Demanding in winter! Easy orientation! All key spots protected! Lp

From Rogar farm, then into forest to Potočka zijalka. There short break and obligatory cave view. Continue towards Olševa which with help of some ropes along path we conquer. But sky views tell us need to head back to valley quickly, as rain from west spreading fast. Just before return my predictions came true, but trip was very nice anyway. Recommend!

Hello! I'm interested how is path from KOPRIVNA to OLŠEVA-GOVCA. e.g. - from Potočnik farm or from Govševa planina. Is that part well marked - or what difficulty, walking time??? Haven't gone from that direction yet interested how and what, if someone walked? Thanks for reply Lp Izidor

Yesterday I was on Olševa. I started at Slemen, the path through the forest is pleasant. On the ridge it was of course windy, snow was falling too. Summit (Govca) in fog, descended to the farm Ošovnik where I had the car. Path is steep and at least in upper part not well marked, hard to follow especially if snowy Nice trip!
