Does anyone know which mountain is between Triglav and Košuta on pic 6? With binoculars I think I saw something like a hut, cairn on summit ...?!?

This morning four paragliders headed to Olševa, decision right as wind and low clouds held till landing at Sv. Duh. Path wet below, from Potočka Zijalka very icy (at least till 9am). Only Peča sunned a bit behind, elsewhere all foggy. Wind 3m/s-SE, good for takeoff. And video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=94f0hzif-iI

I didn't know Olševa belongs to Karavanke, I thought it was in K.S. Alps, but I learned something and hope no hard feelings. L.P.

Has anyone been to Olševa recently or knows the conditions?

If it's a poll, then I can answer that I've never been up there at all and regarding conditions the answer is negative too. If relying on the weather forecast available to all, the weather won't be the best for a visit. For more detailed conditions I suggest one foot in front of the other and see on the spot as they say. But it's funny to me, or quite unusual, that there are such who inquire about conditions at quite a bad forecast, as if coming from incredibly far.

I haven't been to Olševa recently, it has somehow similar terrain configuration as Begunjščica... steep slopes S and J, narrow paths and big slip risk. To Potočka Zijalka no special features, but very careful...

Correction... to Potočka Zijalka no peculiarities, onwards it's quite dangerous... so careful...

Ice candles hanging from the ceiling and growing from the floor are a common phenomenon in the cave every winter, also last winter there were full of them (2 January). Probably the question is how big they get sometimes.

cooler I'll give you the answer again, if really no one was up there and corrects me On Monday from Rogatec I observed Olševa. There was some snow on the ridge and in some gullies. Probably some in the forest above Rogar (no trouble) and maybe then in the gully a bit above the cave. Snow was so little visible that there shouldn't be problems. I've been up there many times in this period and only once I turned back from Obel kamen onwards due to slabs on the ridge. If you're going there, also visit (VIEW!!) http://www.hribi.net/trenutnerazmere.asp?slo=1&gorovjeid=3&id=1185

Check for me how it is towards the Austrian side (north slope)? I'm heading there next month (approach from the Austrian side), so I don't have to drag the ice axe with me. If you have some strength left, check out the VIEW to Logarska - you won't miss much! Regards
