I'm wondering if anyone has hiked the trail from the "Jakobe" parking lot to the Koča pod Peco hut? What's the trail like? How long does it take?

PS: Moderator, if possible, could you add this trail to the website? Thanks.nasmeh

I went alone to the hut at Peč from Topla, so I don't know details about the path you mention, but it's easy since kids around 3 years old climbed it.
Path description will be added when we hike it (probably in October) or someone sends us the description.

I have hiked it.
The trail is easy, suitable also for small children.
It takes approx 50 minutes. Elevation gain is around 350 m.
Suitable for a nice family outing!

You're welcomevelik nasmeh
I gladly described the path to the hut a bit.
On the way up to the summit we split into two groups. Some on the normal path, others into the wall. I think there's no doubt which one I took...velik nasmehvelik nasmeh

I know both paths from the hut to Kordeževa glava. Been up both. Also from Topla to the hut. This part of the trail (from Jakob) is unknown to me and I'd like to hike it too. That's why I inquired (for quick access), but it's true the road up drags and is usually churned up after rain. Right? nasmeh

Thanks again for all the useful info.

The road does drag, yes, and at junctions you need some caution not to stray... but the trail from parking is easy, as I wrote. If you go alone, you're at the hut in half an hourvelik nasmeh

From Jakobe parking go on marked cart track to trail junction, one straight, other left, both to same goal. To clearing with hunting hut, then to hut under Peca... trail easy, 30 min normal walk.
Pick nice day, fog often ravages here. I barely found Peca summitnasmeh. Good I took climbing path you can't miss.
Happy hiking.nasmeh

Nice description of trail from Jakobe parking to hut. I'd add this: a bit beyond clearing is sight, giant spruce with ten tops. Sign by path directs to it. Top of our beauty Peca adorned by nice round signpost. Bravo Koroška markers. Lp Franc

Lepenatka (or someone else who was there recently), can you tell more about this climbing path, maybe photos of key difficult spots?

In the Peca path comments in July someone who had hiked it before said they got lost this time, asked if there was a landslide, as traces of pegs and cable after the initial cable are gone, climbed directly up the gully then through scree.

On Saturday we went up this path to Peca. The cables and pegs are in good shape, you can't get lost because the path is nicely routed.

The paths are nicely marked, you can get lost after the climbing path if there's heavy fog.. Then it's hard to follow the marks.
The climbing path is very nicely routed, well protected, caution just like everywhere in the mountains is not superfluous.
When it's wet, caution is especially needed due to slipping. They take kids there too.
When there are more hikers on the path, a helmet comes in handy too, even if some find it funny.

On Saturday I plan to head to Peca via the climbing path. Does anyone know what the conditions are like there? Any snow?

Thanks and best regards.nasmeh

Peca!
Chasing the last warm days in the high mountains.
Forecasts for the weekend are rather poor and the decision was made quickly...
Off to Peca to make use of the nice sunny day. Past Šoštanj we drive on the nice road Zavodnje - Črna.
Find the turn-off to Peca and from fog into SUN!
The road is almost impassable (fallen spruces on the road) - on return everything cleared!!
We park as far as possible (parking lot at 9:00) and into the mountain. Soon notice windthrown spruces (recently), and forest workers clearing up.
At the hut we rest a bit - warm sun still heartily warms (both feel like a spring day)!
At the junction (Very difficult path) without words turn left (secured). Sun warms the rock and path is very pleasant. Protections all impeccable and soon out of the wall. Lots of photos and enjoying (probably last such warm day in high mountains).
Summit - beautiful view all around and sharing snacks with choughs. Among the flock of choughs almost eating from hands find one with ring on leg.
Alone - then a hiker joins (local). Together review geography and peak knowledge peeking from foggy haze. Shows us > spot< of chamois under sheer walls (only one there) - believe him there are more!
Return via normal path and meet another lone chamois. Catch it in lens and it's on a few shots! At 14:30 at parking.
Day I can't describe with words or photos..

Yesterday on Peca. Weather excellent, snow just a sample on top. Wonderful views, encounter with herd of chamois and at summit posing for greedy ravens (if they even are ravens, don't know...) Hikers' mood excellent. Some of us went up the protected path and must praise the maintainers, cables and pegs excellently maintained and exactly where they should be. Since much faster than other group we dashed to Knipsovo sedlo and back. Returned via that easier path to hut.

There are tons of them everywhere. Wonder what they eat when there's snow and no visitors in the mountains.
