The waterfall freezes at temperatures from -10 and the even more important condition of no sun. Given the dry and sunny conditions it won't be for a while. Best time is around New Year when days are shortest and there is more low cloud cover.

Hello, I'm wondering if any waterfall in Logar Valley is frozen like that and nice to look at. We've gone to see Peričnik for two years now, now we want somewhere closer, we're from the Styrian end. Anyone who knows any nearby in Logar Valley please tell us. lp

Tacky "imported" holidays I generally don't like, but if my dear "Valentine" prepares such a nice gift, then "yuhu" also for this "holiday"...
When we sat in the car after the morning "shift", I had no idea where we were going. I was just told to dress as if I was going to the mountains... Only when we turned off the main road towards Mojstrana did it start to "dawn" on me where he was taking me... yeah, I've been saying for several winters in a row that I'd like to go to the frozen Peričnik once...
And then I started to worry a bit... did he take crampons just in case, helmet, and... but when I opened the trunk, everything was "polished", all gear "ready"...
It seems to me we caught one of the last trains to get right under the waterfall and behind it (the upper one) – with a lot of caution!!! because the forecasted thaw doesn't promise it anything "good" (at the hut under the waterfall around two in the afternoon it was downright warm... "thick" two degrees below zero. Already while climbing we heard cracking and "thunder", when we got really close, we saw an icicle that broke off with a loud bang and flew down somewhere...
In short... this experience was wonderful... when you see it, you're literally stunned by what nature creates... in this case water and frost... that's why I actually like it quite a bit... frost I mean ...and... as @MajaO writes ..."millionthousandtimes" thanks to my dear "Valentine"...
P.S. Well, I don't know if I've ever written such a "sugary" post  ... forgive me for today, since it's this "sugared" holiday

@robi14...road to Vrata is officially closed...there's a sign and barrier (across half road), but further it's all driven (road is snowy but I'd say normally drivable, not icy, no deep ruts, in short "polished") - so up to hut at waterfall, and further as far as seen on road same...how much further idk...(was Tuesday 14.2.)...Lp

Posting some photos of the Peričnik waterfall taken today. Thaw has already affected it considerably. Due to falling icicles and rocks, staying in the immediate vicinity, especially of the upper waterfall, is very dangerous these days, lp.

Obviously the current conditions are being underestimated. While photographing the upper Peričnik waterfall a falling stone hit me, luckily in the leg. I blame myself, that's why I also wrote a warning for all visitors.
