The path to Pihavec from Kriških podov is still closed due to landslide.

The path to Pihavec leading from Kriških podov is still closed. I prefer to approach the summit from Luknja via the southern „ledges“. A while ago someone described and equipped the approach direction with photos so not much to add except in wet great risk of slip. However orientation can become a problem. At the start of the path a bit of climbing then knee-gripper to the ridge where you join the marked path from Kriških podov.
The landslide is nicely visible from the ridge and also can be heard that it's still quite active. Some very large rock flakes can thunder down to the scree at any time.
Not many visits to the summit yesterday I was the only one who visited three ibex lying on the home terrace.

We spent a couple of hours together on the summit.

How nature ensures it remains unnoticed.

Today up via Luknja and Mihelićev gully. Unexpectedly at least five visitors, all up the same, down to three different ends. Everything still damp, grasses dry.

At the key spot in the gully there's a bolt, in the adjacent one, at least on return harder to reach, someone left a sling too.

It was a pious wish of us three to go off-trail to Pihavec. Apart from the description on hribi.net we didn't know what awaited us. And we went on Monday 30.7. Two from Dolenjska and me from the Karst end. No Gorenjec with us. The day was nice. At Luknja we meet photographer Ivo Čepin and chat with him. We didn't hurry, had the whole day. Steep on pathless terrain. We found the higher passage to Miheličeva plaque. And found it. Then climbing in gully and higher found path to summit. Meanwhile dark clouds racing towards lower Bohinj mountains and thunder heard. On summit stayed long. Alone. Descended to other side to Kriške pode.

white clouds were fortunately accumulating. Dark ones were visible far away.

on the mountain, which is rarely visited

We didn't all go at once because the rocks were set to tumble.

darinka4, the rockfall that was very active in 2016 under Pihavec, on this side when you descended, is it gone? It has obviously calmed down.. zmeden

Congratulations! We have this trail planned for the end of the weekend. Us too first time. Please info on trail condition (protection) to Kriške pode.

Yes hope it's ok. Now on descent no problems. Just careful on scree. For ascent wouldn't choose from this side. mežikanje

Nadi, thanks. If you go from Luknja to Pihavec, from cairn on path to Gamsovec pathless to top. No other cairn noticed. Went by route desc under commented trips on hribi.net. Quite funny. I read there where to go, found plaque and marked path under summit. If via Gamsovec path marked. No problems there. nasmeh

Today finally after many years managed to step on summit of Pihavec 2419m, many times close but always something in between so didn't visit. Today from Vrata via Luknja off-trail to Pihavec summit, descent on marked path to Kriški podi, still officially closed. Then further to Stenar 2501m and descent via Stenarska vrata under bivouac IV to Vrata. Forecast cloudless but in mountains never know.

To Pihavec via Luknja today (1.12.2018) approached in quite pleasant conditions. Serious snow starts around 1650 m then above Luknja first almost gone, then more and more right to top...

No Škarpetkas. Maybe they heard that there's a free bus to Mojstrana and trotted off to Aljaž and got off at the penultimate stop at the museum, where they were supposed to enjoy well-deserved rest.
Before entering the gully, tribute to the author whose works every alpinist and experienced mountaineer knows.
At the top we disturbed the midday nap of the chamois family.
We descended via the allegedly closed path, which was "open" for us and two ahead of us.

Don't they know that the path is closed?

It's been at least about 5 years already. Maybe it was open for a short time in between (since I see notice from 2016), or just that the notification worked worse.

First landslide was 2014 - it was fixed in between, then new landslide followed. Wasn't open long..

On Sunday early morning with raindrops towards Luknja where the day slowly greets us and blue sky over low cloudiness. Vauuu, the tour is saved we said, only a bit worried about wet grass....
We continue towards Bovški Gamsovec and soon leave the marked path to it and go through grasses, screes under Pihavec on Tinet Mihelič's path. Tonika explored it alone last year and immediately leads us to the entry gully, where there's a memorial plaque. We continue into the chimney, through grasses and soon join the marked path to the summit. Follows enjoyment and descent to Kriške pode and continuation to Bavški Gamsovec -Luknja-Vrata...
