More for fun than seriously: verse description of the trip to Travnik (June 2009)
Cloudy, gray Saturday morning,
the forecast promises nothing good,
but eight grannies, of course, not deterred
from the already planned excursion.
At five we set off from Kamnik,
drove over Vršič to Trenta,
didn't turn left in the village of Soča
and quickly found the signpost.
Meanwhile a gentleman joined us,
probably so the weather would hold,
since where there are too many women, it often fizzles,
and indeed the sun shone in Trenta.
At a leisurely pace the group ascends
and in two hours we reach the pasture,
where there's no shepherd life anymore,
only an empty hut guards the memories.
The pasture behind the rock is called
and our path also goes a bit into the rocks,
but steel cables are not foreign to us,
so without trouble we dashed ahead.
Before us now is Travnik Valley.
Since winter has just said goodbye,
gentian and alpine bellflower still bloom,
edelweiss has just prepared its flower.
Meanwhile we admire the wide views:
we see Krn when the cloud parts,
on the right Čelo and Vršac stand,
our gaze turns straight
to Travnik, goal of today's excursion.
It connects with Plaski Vogel via the ridge,
Saša and Katja know it well,
a beautiful memory remains for them.
To the summit the weather held up,
then it started to rain
and all nine of us were chased from Travnik,
our soles swiftly carried us to the valley.
But the shower quickly subsided
and the sun smiles friendly again,
so we remove extra clothes,
since at times it properly warms.
On the path we noticed a skeleton -
- here a chamois was carried away by an avalanche,
and two snakes we scared along the way,
as they posed their stance to the sun.
Thus our path passed very quickly,
since in good company the path is always short.
And the company? Saša, Katja, Majda, Vera,
Janez, Zvonka, Magda, Agata and Vladka.
At the end a period is always placed.
And we didn't forget that period.
After the long tour thirst is great -
- we duly honored Aljaž.
