@pohodnik mentioned quad bikes and hikers with poles on the previous page, which prompted me to comment.
Last week we spent a few days (for vouchers) on Pohorje. Visited Black Lake, Osankarica, and walked the entire Urškina trail earning each our fruit slice. nasmeh

We also went to the Maribor viewpoint, first thought closed due to corona, then found out due to deterioration. mrk pogled

Over 100 years ago Germans built it, and Styrians obviously waiting for them to come renovate it velik nasmeh

Last day we drove to Rogla and took the left path towards Lovrenc Lakes. What quad bikes and pickers. The heaviest forestry machines were plowing through soaked terrain, horror at the sight of devastation. Can foresters really afford all that? Do these people have souls at all? Nature won't recover for decades, and water will do its thing there too. A big tractor escaped me for a few seconds, otherwise I'd photo it too.

Nice little viewpoint, but too low to see Lovrenška Lakes...

Maribor viewpoint, please fix it, Styrians. Lower platform not yet worn, upper boards warping, railing disintegrating. Metal structure good for next 100 years.

Nature recovers quickly, sooner than we think. Remains of human structures last quite long. If they don't renovate the tower, they should remove it. The rest is probably mission impossible, thinking of all worn-out ski lifts, abundance of cable remains used for construction aid and similar junk present everywhere in Slovenia.
Least damage will be from these devastated forest tracks. Hikers "plow" everywhere too, especially on local hills around here. There it's even trickier, because we make steep shortcuts that then favor soil erosion during rains.

This afternoon, first snow criterion on cross-country skis (~17km).
Started at Marib. koča, finished at Žigartov vrh. Weather gorgeous, snow approx. 30cm, tracks groomed, just appropriately few visitors. mežikanje

Almost all the previous snow has melted. It snowed up to around 700 m, where it's a bit white, Areh cca. 10 cm new snow. Otherwise today sheet ice everywhere. But it's definitely worth taking advantage of tomorrow's day nasmeh

On Sunday 9.5.2021 short hike on Mariborsko Pohorje. Weather excellent, lots of people. Now at the lower gondola station the right parking is paid, on the left you can still park for free but crowded. At the top on Cigelnici the viewpoint tower is still closed to visitors... waiting for renovation.

On Friday afternoon, traverse of Eastern Pohorje, from ŽP Limbuš via Cigelnica (1147m) to ŽP Orehova vas. Trail without peculiarities, northern part exemplary marked and signposted, eastern part much less.
About 26km, 1000m ascent in 6h walk. mežikanje

Still far, homesteads lower and upper Marin

Yesterday 3.7.21 I did the path Ribnica na Pohorju - Ribniška koča - Črni vrh - Kope - Jezerski vrh - Ribniško jezero - Ribnica na Pohorju. Weather super just right. Lots of hikers, meadows full of flowers, views phenomenal, all excellent.

Today 7.8.21 in wonderful sunny weather to Mariborsko Pohorje. First planned to go somewhere to KSA but instinct told me otherwise and I was right, foggy in the mountains. View tower still closed. Tomorrow there will be some crowd under Pohorje as European downhill mountain bike championship is taking place.

This is not an official mountain hut (that's why no web data), but a farmstead, usually open with fantastic mushroom goulash!

Hello

I have a question, has anyone already wandered around the forests in this area with a headlamp? I'd like to go on Friday when it gets dark from Areh to Šumik waterfall. Is it dangerous because of animals or something else?! Better to check beforehand before setting off.

We regularly wander around forests and hills with headlamps. Often even with them turned off, especially now when there's almost a full moon.

If you're not exactly in Inner Carniola or Lower Carniola, there shouldn't be problems with animals. Otherwise, animals usually avoid people, except where they've become too familiar.

For the beginning of the year to the highest peak of the Municipality of Hoče - Slivnica via the path Sp. Hoče - Hočka hut - Belvi - Maribor viewpoint - Ledinekov kogel - Reški vrh - Mariborska koča - Petkovo sedlo - Sp. Hoče.
It was a nice warm day with beautiful views.

Yesterday, from Ribniško Pohorje to Kop. The snow is so frozen in the morning that it doesn't hinder walking yet. Snow line at approx. 1200m.

Today diagonally from the lowest to the highest point in the Municipality of Hoče - Slivnica. I start at the lower edge at Dravski Dvor and through Hotinjo vas and Radizel to the junction of the marked path and along it to Mariborska koča. Continue to Ledinekov kogel, which is the highest peak of the Municipality of Hoče - Slivnica, and then to the highest point in the municipality, which is just below the summit of Sedovec. Descent via Glažuta and Pečk to Log.
It was a nice warm day and no crowds. nasmeh
