Poldašnja Peak - Jof di Miezegnot

We've missed high mountains for a while, so we quickly decided for a visit to close neighbors. After obligatory morning coffee at David in Trbiž we drove a few km further and parked at arranged parking in Valbruna. Chose path 607 which via gentle road brought us to Raune alpine pasture. From there past Zita chapel nice comfortable hiking path. Goal … Poldašnja Peak.

But that was without the innkeeper. Whole path without issues to saddle below last steep, there steep wet snowfield blocked continuation. Too dangerous even with winter gear, so turned and chose nearby Little Poldašnja Peak instead. Also nice rewarding goal, we finally quenched thirst for deep vistas velik nasmeh. Snow in shady spots will linger quite some time, won't talk about its quality. Darn!
We park on the edge of Ovčja vas and head towards 607.1
The gentle gravel road rises only slowly.2
Planina Rauna with renovated shepherd hut.3
Just a little above the planina there is a beautiful Zita chapel.4
Dedicated to the last Austro-Hungarian empress Citi.5
Higher up we reach a junction where we turn left.6
Snow patches seem more numerous at first glance than expected.7
The snow is completely rotten, so winter gear stays in the backpacks.8
We do gymnastics on dry edges and seek dry passages.9
Even the scree occasionally comes to our aid10
We are already below Mala Podašnja špica, today's reserve goal11
Memorial to soldiers from the First World War right below the summit12
View of the snowy north side of Montaž13
Poldašnja špica. Due to the steep snowfield on the left we abandoned the ascent to it14

On Saturday climbed this peak, but for those real far views need to try again. Why not, was my first time here after years postponing, yeah sometime gotta go up here.
Plan was loop tour, but not sure if we'd want to hike from Zajzera parking back to Sheep path. Said decision on summit. But quickly decided not return via that scree, better try other screenasmeh. And from idea nice loop came out. Descent via Gemona bivouac where clouds started clearing and via Rudni vrh to Grego hut, left gear and sat at side table where nice view to Montaž group doesn't miss. With coffee and beer time flew, so left comfort and continued bit on path bit on new road to valley. From there not most appealing but had to get to car.

But good path combo, little after Montasio hut turned to forest path bringing to wide scree of Zajzera stream and walked first fine gravel later among boulders until springs everywhere made lively brook rushing thru scree to Ovča vas. Here to bank but returned to water, also to Oitzinger inn checked and followed branches to Pellarini hut. Added about six km but liked very much. Really nice loop tour!
We parked near this view1
We were rewarded for hiking this path2
Mostly on the road, some shortcuts to pl.Rauna3

Large well-maintained parking lot, free parking, well-marked trail and secured below the summit with "new" cable. Trail is dry, moderate wind on top, fine lower down.

At the end of Zajzera, haven't seen any signs for parking payment yet.

I paid at the end of December, just before the holidays, I think 6€ (maybe 5€, I'm not sure). At the start of the valley there's (was?) a wooden hut in the middle of the road and the ladies demanded I pay. Last summer too they collected when I was there by bike, of course no need to pay then. There are comments on the net, mainly Italian, all complaining about the parking fee. So it's good to have some change just in case, the walk to the valley end or last parking is quite far, especially if going higher up.

We two were already 2x in summer in Zajzeri and no parking collected. Once afternoon bad weather, second early morning (early for Italians) no one in hut. So never know ... Next time we'll drive on purpose through Dunja to Rudni vrh to see areas and approach two-thousanders winking

A few years ago there was a parking meter where you got a ticket and put it on the windshield. How many eur, don't remember.

Last September they collected parking in the hut at the valley start. Probably only in season.

Last January we went from Ojcinger to Višarje. Payment was at that shack in Ovčja vas.

In Zajzeri about a decimeter of snow, to summit 2-3x more but no base — good skis stayed home. Valley entry charged 5€.

To bivak now well trodden, further less. From pasture onwards constant sun snow softens quickly, in shade earlier but with considerable delay. For summit better early in these conditions, for other parts of the trail not.

I drive to Dogna and up the mountain road to 1100m, past the hut and through the bends to Rudni vrh. The snow mostly held the weight, conditions were good, the fixed cables are out, with crampons to the top. Descent via the approach route. It's nice in this area, I'll come back again.
