Roblek Hut

tisa, I fully agree with what you wrote.
To explain in more detail how we built and renovated mountain huts and lodges in those "leaden" times. As we know, most huts and lodges were destroyed or burned in the war. Mountaineering societies had no money for reconstruction. We got money from companies. Usually we had to go to the company to talk to the party secretary (every company had to have one), explain what it's about and detail everything. After a few days, the money was transferred to the account. But we had to contribute the work voluntarily ourselves. Sometimes we worked all summer. We transported material to the construction site with horses, /at that time there was no talk of helicopters/ small materials like nails, wire, tools, we carried in backpacks every time. A few years after the war, the huts were mostly renovated. Today however.....
When the hut on Zelenica burned down, they renovated it for almost 7 years, and it's probably still not finished today, why, you can imaginezadrega

Otiv, Tisa, Zdomec and others have explained quite well how, when and why and of course I agree with you, the hope is that those who didn't know can now perhaps change their behavior for the better (at least I knew some would have something against it), even with us in Italy it's the same mrk pogledmusic; people are different (thank God) but if you can do something better that will be for everyone, step by step, we would all live bettermežikanje; it's not that hard to do, just voluntary will and a bit open view to the future.nasmeh

because of one log, such a discussion... everyone does what they want..
Best is, when there's a nice day for Roblek (or some similar mountain station) you stand by the logs and ask every passerby why they don't take a log and carry it to the hut mežikanje
If during the time when they have a folk music band at Roblek everyone carried one log, they would surely run out

Yes, that's exactly the problem.

I think this discussion is pointless because of one log. Whoever wants to carry it up will carry it, whoever doesn't, won't. You can't force anyone.
PS: I carried it myselfnasmeh

Well, we're not just going to discuss the weather, we already know what it's like and that we won't soon go to Roblek in the sun.nasmeh Anyway, for me, whoever doesn't carry a log to the hut is not a mountaineer with soul, but just a recreationalist. I have carried it myself and felt really good knowing I did something good. Similar with picking up various rubbish that accumulates on paths. While cursing the pigs who did it, you pick up the trash nicely, problem solved and you feel like you did something good again, even if it's a drop in the ocean, but still. Anyway, as GregorC says ....you can't force anyone... Greetings.

I go to the mountains mainly to be in nature. I rarely go to huts. To Roblek I don't go the normal path but directly through the forest. When possible, I prefer from Tinčkova hut, as the path there is much more pleasant and less like a mountaineering highway. mežikanje

Otherwise, @tisa: Isn't it exactly the one who carries the log up who is a recreationalist? After all, carrying burns more calories than carrying nothing. jezik Otherwise I also like to pick up trash after various pigs. Logs up I haven't carried yet (except once when I was little :p), as opportunities were few. If that makes me a recreationalist without mountaineering soul, then so be it. I know best in myself who I am.

But probably the time for logs to Roblek will come too. For new year I'll probably go again to the top of Begunjščica, if weather allows. Then I usually stop a bit in the hut, so that would be ideal time. But everything depends on conditions... last year they were so ideal that I went up straight through Kalvarija (otherwise in winter avalanche area), so no logs. velik nasmeh

So far I've gone twice on the path where wood is set for Roblek hut but in the DOWN direction towards Draga. So the dilemma of whether to carry something up or not was gone. At Roblek there were no logs set that needed to be carried down either.

The old good times when it was pleasant in huts, friendly atmosphere, not overpriced, caretakers more or less friendly, obliging,... are gone.

Today they are market entities like taverns, buffets and shops in the valley with the difference that prices are increased by about factor two! Comparison with Italy is irrelevant since there prices are about the same but with about twice as high wages. And add various inconveniences in huts we've already talked about and some specific only to huts which I won't repeat,...,...

Is it surprising then that people don't do anything voluntarily anymore? Considering all capitalist and market tricks with which today's caretakers are smeared it's like there would be a sign at a warehouse near a shop somewhere in the valley saying please take some product from the prepared pile to the shop and hand it to the saleswoman so she puts it on the right shelf.

Ah, and then I'd rather carry wood up than pick up trash after pigs.

Today I was on training on Roblek. Snow for running quite good. Also the track is wide enough to run without problems. Actually the path to Roblek is so very flat that no transition to fast walking is needed anywhere and you can nicely half-run the whole path. With time just under 49 min in summer I wouldn't be remotely satisfied. For winter conditions the time wasn't bad. After tea in the hut I continued towards Begunjščica summit. I tracked to the junction for the path to Zelenica. But I turned back the trip, because I was without ice axe. Snow sank to knees. On the way back under Roblek slide - so 4-point crampons would be useful.

Anyway nice training

Does anyone know how much snow is still on the path from Draga to Roblek?

On the path from Draga to Roblek there's a bit of snow only towards the top. The path is mostly dry, on a short section below the summit partially icy, but you can go up and down without crampons too (some used them anyway).

...To Roblek I'll go... and we went. Path mostly dry, last turns a bit icy but no big deal. Towards the hut very little snow, just right for that real winter feel. Sun hiding behind clouds and mists, but nice. And Ira went with me again today, čavnasmeh
