Roblek Hut

Roblek Hut - 15.2... The road is very icy at both ends, otherwise bare ground alternates with snow. From Planinice pasture onwards everything is under snow, all the way to Roblek. Snow increases with altitude and firs are still nicely decorated with white. At the top divine views, enjoyed it like I haven't for a long time. We were only four at the hut, no tracks over Roža, it's an avalanche-prone slope. nasmeh

Hello, tomorrow we plan with family to go to Roblek Hut from Tomčeva Hut or Draga. We don't have an off-road vehicle and I'm interested how far before Tomčeva H. we need to park and how long it takes to walk to the hut from there. Is the road and path clear?

Hi, the road to Tomčeva hut is still icy in places, you won't get very high with the car, so you have to walk almost from below. The path to Roblek itself is not clear, snow starts soon above Tomčeva hut, at about 1300m a.s.l.

Today's errand in Begunje I used for a walk to Roblek. In light footwear and small backpack I leave the parking where one vehicle was already parked. Due to recent snowfall first 20 min. mud, next quarter hour or so, and last nice narrow snow track. In Draga quite some cars, but I met only five people. In front of the hut cold, because a big cloud rolled in, even Stol summit was hidden. New snow about 20cm, hut shows no signs of life eek

What helps if the shutters are open, when it doesn't smoke from the raufnka.

14.12.... The road was icy. From the car in Draga we had crampons on with my sister, small ones. Paths are tracked also through the forest. From Poljska pasture onwards only shortcuts. Enough snow, only firs have shaken off holiday beauty. Forest road is plowed to Poljska pasture. They were sledding on it. Nice, although views soon retreated to grayness. Still holds, early hour golden hour.. nasmeh

Has anyone been up there in the last days? What are the conditions in Draga and what's the road to Draga like?

I was up there today. Road to Draga is dry, normally drivable. From the inn onwards it's drivable quite high up, although slightly icy in some parts. Otherwise the path is very well tracked, through forest to Planinica a bit icy, higher from Poljska pasture due to new snow just right.

On Sunday three hikers went from Draga to Planinca, Polish alpine pasture to Roblek Hut. Dry below, then snowy and icy sections, crampons needed. Many years passed since my last ascent from Draga. Nice sunny day, Stol with Prešeren Hut in plain sight, view to Bled Lake...Interesting Mr Hugo Roblek, pharmacist, mountaineering promoter who enabled hut construction. During National Home fire in Trieste 1920, he and wife jumped through window, lady injured, Mr Hugo died. Trieste folks set up memorial plaque at hut.

Today my main goal was Roblek Hut. Start at Ljubelj past Vrtača Hut to Zelenica. Then to Roblek Hut. Towards the summit steel cables help us, in bad condition - sad. Roblek is full of hikers. Then via Roža to Prevala alpine pasture. This path is not exactly innocent - need care, don't slip. At Prevala lots of visitors. Surprising path to K Born tunnels. Due to timber extraction nice path totally ruined - shame it was allowed. Tunnels await, at end crawl out last tunnel on all fours. Which club maintains this path I don't know.

Weather sunny, hot, views excellent, alpine flowers aplenty - pure five stars.

From what I saw on IG posts there's some snow at Roblek, so whole path surely not dry. Regards

On Sunday I was at Roblek and Begunjščica. Started at Polish alpine pasture. To Roblek no trace of snow, higher up mostly gone, only mud left. To Zelenica side different story of course.

Some yesterday's impressions from Slovenski Gorniški klub Skala from a nice, traditional tour to Roblek Hut. Up via Prevala and Roža to Roblek. Yesterday the path to Prevala was dry, via Roža some avalanche debris on the path, yesterday no issues. Some mountaineers went via Kalvarija to Begunjščica summit. On that path bad conditions, deep sinking.

Today from Draga to Roblek Hut. Track made to the top, but this morning below the hut fully drifted over by wind. Thanks to predecessors for the work. In the morning sun showed several times. Along the path occasional wind, multiple times causing snow shedding from trees. Last meters before hut very windy as expected. Luckily hut open and stove heating. Winter Roblek something special. nasmeh

On descent many encounters. Descent express, snow totally "powdery". On return plowed to Poljska Planina. Safe and sound to all on winter paths. nasmeh

Just a few meters after the bridge, the car tracks end, couldn't go further

Until spring, the barrier will remain lowered

Towards the top, more and more sun and also more and more snow

More and more snow, sinking in, but the hut is close

Despite the trodden track, walking is a real balance test, and it's blowing strongly too

Something can be guessed towards Stol, in the direction of Vrtača it's completely without visibility

With icy fingers I press the camera, a peak stands out, I don't know which one

If you're going for the weekend, be early to find a parking spot at the starting point. Otherwise you can park earlier, but it lengthens the path. Somewhat easier during the week.

Some today's snapshots from Slovenian Mountaineering Club Skala from a nice, traditional hike to Roblek Hut starting from the hut in Draga. A bit further from Poljska Planina the path is icy in some sections, small crampons are very handy.
