Savinjek, Zabrložnica, Matkovo Window

Yesterday this part of KSA finally got its turn. I started in Logarska Valley. The path to the hunting hut is appropriately covered with leaves for this time but still followable. At the windows I took quite some time to explore the waterfalls on Brložnica. I tried to climb to Savinjek above the hut, but turned back a little below the summit because I had my two four-legged friends with me, and the ascent was becoming more demanding. I descended back to the hut and continued the path towards Okrešelj. On the saddle above the hut I climbed left to the summit of Brložnica. The view from the top to Logarska Valley and the peaks above it is really beautiful. I descended back to the saddle and on the opposite side climbed to Matkovo window, which I noticed from the top of Zabrložnica. During the ascent I enjoyed the variety of terrain (grass, scree, scrub, snow, steep slope) and searching for the right passages. Matkovo window is the reward for that, as the view to Matko's side through the window is truly unique. Then I descended back to the saddle again and continued towards Okrešelj. The path is beautiful, panoramically very picturesque. I can certainly agree with those who say that here the soul and body rest. And it's right that the paths remain unmarked and nature as little disturbed as possible. Nice regards from under the beautiful Mozirska Planina, Janez.

First you post the route description online, then you say paths should stay unmarked and nature undisturbed. Good morning!!! And you took 2 dogs into pristine nature.

Joža x, my two female dogs are socialized and never chase wildlife. I'm sure they don't harm nature with such wanderings either. In the description I wrote as little disturbed as possible and not pristine as you write. Because it's already disturbed since the first homo sapiens went there. I was a hunter for 8 years and left the hunting brotherhood because of that, because I like to observe game and not shoot it, I will never agree with their thinking. I think the problem is elsewhere. Various societies namely lead groups to such corners on account of unmarked paths and "pristine" nature and earn from it. Nature is left with only trash, which we then pick up, those to whom nature matters. Joža x, I assure you that nature behind me and my two four-legged friends won't be any less "pristine". But if some mountaineer with the help of this description goes more on this path, I wish him to enjoy at least as much as I and leave nature as he found it or even nicer. And good morning, pardon, nice regards from under the beautiful Mozirska Planina, Janez.

Maybe some society, thanks to your description, will choose this path and bring tourists, you'll be picking up trash again. I pick up trash I come across on hiking trails myself. No hard feelings, to me it's just about nature.

Janez, your thinking is close to mine too. I understand that you don't get along with hunters, but I support you regarding (undisturbed) nature and picking up trash. Interesting tour. I wish you more like this in the future.

Joža_x, a similar path is already described in the guide Kamniško – Savinjske Alpe, (Andrej Stritar, 2003), p.155. The path is marked »very demanding unmarked path«, so no fear that because of this post tourists will now crowd the path, because it's known for whom it's intended. JTrogar, congrats on the completed tour. I support posting photos, as they speak about current conditions. Especially because photos on pathless routes can be a great help to others in discovering the path besides plain text. Regarding trash I think it applies equally to walking on "main trails" as on pathless routes, where we usually walk, people for whom »the path is the guide, not the goal« (Nejc Zaplotnik)

Today I also went up there. Started as medo* described. Helped myself a bit with Wolf's and JanezT description and it worked. Wasn't even that hard. 15min before hunting hut I went right (descended over rock step) and through torrent bed arrived a bit below the hut. From hut onward followed Wolf's advice and into steep gully. At least 15 minutes hard fight with scrub and I even laughed when I inspected beech and larch. Grass steep slope is really tough and no mistakes allowed. Crawled on all fours grabbing briars and grass. When I reached the ridge I went down to Matko side and my way to the top. No problems just tied a ribbon at the exit where I climbed to the final ascent to the top. This came very handy on return!!! enjoyed!!! On return I found another variant and elegantly avoided the scrub I fought before. But noticed the meaning of wooden ladder leaned on rock ledge before scrub - detour over rocks to the right!! At hunting hut rested a bit, refueled and gas towards Okrešelj. Window and Zabrložnica summit saved for next time. At Savinja source went to Shepherd's path and at 12:05 already drinking beer. Started at 5:55 thanks to everyone for every tip!! Regards

Congratulations, Geppo, and thanks for uploading the pictures and description up there On such paths there is really peace, lots of untouched nature and views that you don't see otherwise...

Unknown and unmarked little path where there'll be no fresh snow and avalanche risk, and where you can let your eyes wander up to white peaks and blue sky above them At the start heavily "leaf-covered" and adorned with lush ferns, higher up snowy and icy. Not too steep and has quite a few spots for rest and views. Offers itself enriched with natural windows or better said window and door, since the path goes through the lower one. If you follow the sound of water rustling in the otherwise dry streambed, you spot a waterfall falling into a deep canyon. Somewhat higher on the other side of the stream, the view is drawn to a "den"; in the steep part of the gully, you need to focus on the path as it gets demanding here, then a short walk through the forest and it already brings you to the sunlit hut on Zabrložnica pasture. In front of the hut, on the bench, you sit and your gaze embraces the peaks surrounding the pasture and you plan for next time when conditions allow their visit. If you enter the hut, on the table you find the logbook full of enthusiastic impressions and memories of visitors, sadly also impatience between those who built the hut and those who just visit it How sad that human disputes reach high into the solitudes of our beautiful mountains Back to Logarska Valley along the known path, happy that tomorrow spring starts in the country.

Today via Zabrložnica to Matkovo window and then to Okrešelj. Path mostly dry, above hunters' hut to saddle still small snowfields that can be crossed or bypassed. Just before descent to Matkovo window two more snowfields where ice axe was very useful. Crampons stayed in pack due to southern snow. Trail from saddle to Okrešelj completely dry. Path wonderful, edelweiss blooming on rocks, chamois kept company. Best to all!

I kinda envy all participants in the above two posts. Nice. To you, geppo, a panoramic from the exploratory peak. Probably really called Zabrložnica peak. Best.

Yesterday first time to slopes of Zabrložnica and true what predecessors say: wonderful path. This time forest glowed in colors, leaves sparkled like golden sequins in warm autumn sun, silence balm for ears and head. Invaluable such feeling of nature. Like silent observer you tread narrow trails and rejoice: chamois family, jackdaws soaring above, animal tracks in snow, pearl necklaces on spiderweb ...

Savinjek was on wishlist for some time. Path to Zabrložnica without features, from there probably everyone goes a bit their own way. At summit feeling of gratitude overtakes you that hike succeeds, next moment with ridge views you devise grand plans for those not yet visited and recall those already attempted
