These peaks are something special, right!
You feel a special peace in those corners. I hope it stays that way in the future too.
My wife and I were up there on the 1st day of the year. There was hard snow in the forest below the hunting hut, above it a real "autumn fairy tale" without snow.

"Big" is of course very relative, I think you strained a bit this year nasmeh

Iprim really it's very beautiful, actually you look far around, down in Logar Valley you only sense the hustle and civilization, Matko's window and the view into it is unique from everywhere velik nasmeh

Dprapr you won't believe a group of hikers reserved the hunting hut for New Year's Eve and entered their intention right in the logbook at Zabrložnica.

I park in Logar Valley. Almost to the hunting hut at Zabrložnica I walk in the shade, which was quite pleasant. At least my back stayed dry. At the hut, sunshine, so I sit down a bit and bask while reading the logbook. I continue up to Savinjek, strictly along the ridge, pure enjoyment with quite some adrenaline. At the top of Savinjek I decide not to descend back to the hut but to continue along the ridge to Matkovo Window. On the way I climb another peak unnamed to me. Great peak with wonderful views. There was also some fight with the scrub, which is always fun velik nasmeh

. From it I descend to the path coming up from the hut and continue on it to Matkovo Window. At Matkovo Window I meet forum member @anuk1. Together we climb to the arch of the window, I to its very top. It was quite adrenalinic cool

, but worth it for the view. Then we descend to the saddle above Zabrložnica and climb to the Turns. Thus we closed a wonderful loop over the peaks around Zabrložnica. When on the way to Okrešelj we entered the shade, we only then fully realized how unique it was up there. Vinko, thanks for the nice company.

From Savinjek we then continued traversing to Matkovo Window or to the overgrown gully below the window. Up it we climbed to the window. JTrogar says we missed the proper access to the window along the ridge.
But we didn't want to make a detour down to the saddle at Turns.
From the window we then descended to the hunting hut and down to Logar Valley.
The ridge is extremely varied and rugged and offers nice views.
Difficult terrain was at the beginning to the transition to the forested terrace and at the end in the overgrown gully below M. window.

Yeah, this ridge gets on my nerves too. It'll need exploring - definitely next year. I checked it from the top of Hudega praska, seemed very overgrown to me. Probably a battle with dwarf pines.

Yesterday in fine sunny weather to Zabrložnica. We parked in Logarska dolina. We started hiking in the shade; just below the window, the sun was already warming us nicely. The trail to Zabrložnica is fully dry. Snow appears only at Zabrložnica, and it can be bypassed on the right side there. We were probably the first this year on this path, as there was still all dry branches and leaves on it. We cleaned the path to Zabrložnica and onward to Okrešelj nicely. We separated at the hunting hut. The men went to Savinjek, then traversed to Matkovo okno, and met the women's part of the team at the saddle below Turni. The path from Matkovo okno to the saddle below Turni is still all under snow from the window to the ridge, so we descended via the approach path to the scree and then to the saddle. We skipped Turni yesterday. There was some bushwhacking again when traversing from Savinjek to Matkovo okno, which was an especially interesting experience for one of us like a pheasant on such pathless terrain. velik nasmeh

To Okrešelj, snow is only in two gullies, requiring just a bit more concentration when crossing. There is still quite a lot of snow on Okrešelj. It is still too early to explore the ridge further toward Mrzla gora, as there was a lot more snow visible ahead. At the end of the tour, we all agreed that we had spent another wonderful day in the mountains.

May time has come again, it pulled me to this remote area. Path to Matkovo okno dry (except packed snowfield above hunting hut), same to Okrešelj where rhododendrons in full bloom nasmeh

Early in the morning (5:40) in fog, parked at P. hut. Due to fog, I cannot see what's happening higher up, and I hesitate between Rjavči vrh (back through Grlo to Kot) and unfinished Turni on the right..???
Wrong decision, as I choose Rjavči vrh.
Higher up, I think differently. On the icy slab between the north face of Ojstrica and Rjavči, it slips a bit and sinking starts, I turn around without thinking. At 8:40 at the car, drive higher. Soon facing Turni. Snack at hunting hut, 11:15 already on one..
Highest makes me think…. but anyway, we agree to check from the highest point of Turni to Logarska dolina.
Weather front approaching fast. SW wind gusting, must be careful at the summit tip. Descend quickly to lee side. Hurry ahead of black fogs, before 13 safe below. Behind it darkens..

In this season of crowds and frenzied shopping, one craves peace and quiet. And what is better then than heading to some peak above Matkov kot.
With my brother, we started in Logarska dolina and followed the tracks of predecessors up to the hunting hut. Almost no snow below, at about 1300m suddenly quite a lot. Above the hunting hut, we continued with crampons along the ridge and beside it to Savinjek. In places it was sinking, in places pure ice or hard snow. At the summit, the views - what to say, you know how it looks.
Not rushing anywhere, and with the sun showing more and more, we also traversed to the peak before Matkovo okno. Somewhere I read that this peak is called Rdeči stolp (can't remember where). Does anyone have info on this hill?
Its panorama is even more majestic than from Savinjek. From Matkov kot, it looks the most imposing and steep. It has two summits very close together.
We returned downward to the right and through the forest to the hunting hut. The hunting hut's roof was renovated this year, as it was already badly damaged.
Nice that such people still exist who maintain objects in these remote areas.
