Today the weather is worth shouting for. At the Window even seven hikers.....unbelievable for this part of our wonderful land.
Tough, but worth it. Descent via the hunter's trail to Okrešelj.

Savinjek
After a long time today on Savinjek. In Zabrložnica there are still patches of snow in shady spots. The higher you climb, the more of it there is. In places it has already slid from steep grassy cirques. On sunny slopes it has melted away. No crowds, plenty of time and we discovered several rock cavities. Some serve as chamois shelters, others stand empty or are claimed by other animals. Larches are merrily shedding needles and we had them everywhere. The day was nice and the views accordingly.

It's already nicely snow-covered here compared to the Julians. Probably next week it'll be everywhere anyway.

Glad you two made it to the top of Matko's. Milan was a bit concerned about the snow conditions on Matko's. Thursday when we were roaming Raduha, he kept glancing at Matko's and assessing conditions..
Janez, the young ones liven us up a bit, or rather, with them no need to rush like with the old.....goats velik nasmeh

Glad we can pass some experience to the younger ones...

On the drive to Logar Valley, Milan and I just couldn't decide where to go. When we parked in Logar Valley, we chose Zabrložnica. Since it was already 9 at start, we didn't set high goals. Breaking trail was of course quite tiring mežikanje

so we arrived at Zabrložnica totally soaked in sweat. In the hut we lit the stove cool

and soon it was nicely warm and our wet clothes dry too. The warmth in the hut was so pleasant that we left only at 11:30. nasmeh

Feeling told us that in these conditions ascent to Savinjek and from there to Matko's Window was a bit late, as we didn't want to hike till night. So we headed straight to the saddle under Turni hoping to continue to Okrešelj. Snow towards the saddle increased and we almost wrote off Matko's Window for today. At the saddle things turned in our favor. Conditions on the ridge to Matko's Window were a bit more promising, so we said let's try. Ascent to the ledge above was solid, then more breaking trail for the ledge. Yay, we made it anyway. After short stop at the Window we descended slowly by ascent route. Great tour with everything that belongs to such a tour. Especially Milan was thrilled as it was his first winter at the Window.

This is real paradise for the soul. I only experience similar on the Trent ridges.

Today visit to Zabrložnica. Then to Turni and along hunters' path to Okrešelj. Descent to Pastirsko and after about 5 min walk we find old hunters' path to the valley. Of course it tempted us. velik nasmeh

Above hunters' hut still some snow, which disappears at the saddle. Ascent to Turni OK.
On hunters' to Okrešelj in that gully still snow and there we used ice axe. The hunters' path branching from Pastirsko is completely abandoned, three pitons still in the wall, cables of course long gone.
Weather, company...to shout about.

Logar Valley - Zabrložnica - Matko's Window - Turni - Okrešelj - Rinka Waterfall (and back - circular tour)

Nice pics and interesting descriptions of predecessors about Matko's Window aroused interest here too to see this scenic feature, which however requires a serious ascent on pathless difficult terrain to the top.
We start opposite direction (right) from the branch to Plansarija in Logar Valley (along main road, somewhere halfway between Mountaineers' Home and last parking under Rinka Waterfall), cross dry river bed and left of wooden bridge head up on hunters' trail leading to small abandoned pasture Zabrložnica. Path to hunters' hut is nicely zigzagged over locally steep forest, when crossing lower double window, view opens to Savinjek and mighty cavities/hollows/caves under it.
From pasture Zabrložnica (where continuous trail gradually disappears), first head towards Turni, opposite side from hunters' hut, but soon turn right and up steep sharp grasses and among small scree under rock edge towards patch of green grass and ridge bounded on right by distant visible broken or from left collapsed peak in ridge Matko's Window - Savinjek. Continue left under rock ridge (no cairns - but passage somehow logically noticeable, for orientation right direction - some sawn dwarf pine branches) and on narrow steep grassy ledges under walls, reach back under grassy, bushy and slightly gravelly wider gully descending under Matko's Window. From there steep up to window just over 100m. View through window to Matko Valley and opposite to Matko's Kopa rewards the effort. At window can see its left footing already slightly loosening and crumbling more than normal unfortunately.
Of course this detour on ascent not necessary, but access easier, shortcut over small rock step is notably shorter but that step especially for larger group quite awkward and continuation due to friability and gravel sliding in that direction under window.
On return, before Zabrložnica turn right to saddle under Turni, to saddle trail poorly visible, from saddle on to Okrešelj mostly through forest normal to follow but has some steep sections dangerous for slipping. When reach Okrešelj, path brings to dry torrent bed, from there just over 100m further and out under GRS hut and a bit further to Frischauf hut on Okrešelj.
This trip organized by PD Litija attended by about 15 senior club members.
