Zabrložnica - Turni - Matkovo Window and along hunters' path to Okrešelj. Wonderful day for wandering these beautiful paths.

Today to this remote world. velik nasmeh

First past the hunting hut to the top of Savinjek, then across to the saddle and also to the highest Turn. I skipped Matkovo Window due to snow.
Wild...and once again wild. mežikanje

Since last time due to snow I skipped ascent to Matkovo Window, today I decided for it. mežikanje

To the window via right bypass variant, descent via normal route. Little snow and it can be bypassed, so no more problems.
The Window always fascinates and today was no different. nasmeh

From saddle then along hunting path to Okrešelj, where in that gully we cross non-problematic snow patch and sausage was nailed.

On Saturday I set off to take a close look at Matkovo okno, which I had already admired from afar on the path to Mrzla gora. From Dom planincev I soon reached Logarski kot, where after some searching I found the little path above the dry streambed. It was nice to follow it as it steeply zigzagged through the forest and led me above the fog still lingering over the bottom of Logarska dolina. From behind Ojstrica the first sun rays appeared, wonderful. Past the double window to Zabrložnica, where instead of "bypassing" it through the forest, I preferred scrambling through burnt scrub and rocks. I'll know for next time!
Soon I was at the saddle between the Turns and the ridge to the window, the view of Brana and Turska gora from an unusual perspective elicited a loud "wow". The tour became even more interesting here, as the path leading along the ridge to the grassy slope simply disappeared. I went back to check if it could lead elsewhere, decided no, returned and started climbing the grasses, just then a group appeared from behind the edge descending from the window, so I was on the right path. Beyond the edge the "path" could be followed again past two or three cairns, then I had to climb steep grasses to the ridge and descend the other side, where the window soon appeared below. But how to reach it? Twice I descended into the scrub where I seemed to see traces of predecessors, returned when it became too steep and too muddy, only the third time I found the right direction that led me to the window with a great view of Matkovo kopa and the blue sky over Matkov kot.
After a snack I returned and reached the saddle much faster than in the opposite direction. I descended towards Okrešelj, where from almost total solitude I ended up in the hustle. Soon I was at the waterfall and then back to the car. Really beautiful, interesting and demanding tour, despite not leading to any summit, only to "modest" 1800 m.a.s.l.

When you go up there for the first time, that's the real thing. When discovering anew, you grope around and find it at the end.
First time from the Savinjek direction, my brother and I charged straight up to the window over the jump and pines. In vain JTrogar waved from the Turns that we shouldn't go straight... nasmeh

Thanks medo*, also due to your descriptions I tackle such tours that are treats, because you need to be fully engaged all the time and even more alert than on marked paths (unwalked ones in KSA few left for me).
If you master it, you probably reach many places straight ahead by nose, but for the start, following the description is a challenge nasmeh

Today hikers from PD Škofja Loka conquered Matko's Window. To the abandoned Zabrložnica pasture we go along the hunting path, which is quite steep in places. This pasture now offers shelter to hunters, as there's a hunting hut here. The shepherd's hut is long gone. The pasture was overgrowing and it seems they thoroughly cleared it not long ago, so it again offers juicy grass to chamois and roe deer. Don't know how it is with deer here. At the hunting hut the fun ends. Starts real pathless terrain through steep long grasses, along rocks, across scree. We saw no cairns, nor traces of possible predecessors. Traces probably erased by frequent rain. Our two guides knew this pathless terrain well and knew exactly where to go. But it was dangerous also due to crumbling rocks and long steep grasses - and steep too. Somehow we struggled to the window, which is really a magnificent creation of nature. After a short rest we descended to the path leading to Dom na Okrešlju. The descent was also extremely demanding. Slightly tired we arrived at Dom na Okrešlju and then past Rinka waterfall to the parking for Dom na Okrešlju. This was at least for me the most demanding pathless terrain so far.

Windows before the Zabrložnica alpine pasture. There should be beautiful waterfalls a bit lower below the windows.

Short comment to Branko's description: From the hunting hut to Matko's Window there is one quite well traceable path and one a bit less. Also some cairn and trace of predecessors can be found on them. Of course you can approach also via pathless terrain, but only good guides know it. mežikanje

Today, first visit to Matko's Window.
Really to rest the nerves, as except for us two there was no living soul up there nasmeh

Approach from Logarska Valley past Ik, then along the right path to the ridge to the window. Descent along the left path to the saddle and on the hunter's path to Okrešelj and past Rinka back to the car.

Although there were different plans, it just took me up there, to the wreath of peaks above Zabrložnica. When if not now, when everything is in autumn golden colors. Sure, in snow it's nice, but today I didn't complain either. From Savinjek, twin-headed Red Turn, past Matko's Window to unnamed peak above it, the path in solitude led me, as predecessor wrote. There almost tempted me further along ridge to Mrzla gora, but not today, next time..., maybe again whole ridge.
Just climbed to Turn and enjoyed the view. Then to cold valley.
