Navihan, do you descend directly down from the last tower before Široka Peč? I mean the tower you see on the left when you reach the ridge from the scree gully via the normal route and with a peg in its middle.

This part of the path or this tower took me the most time, as when I first got to the top of this tower I didn't find the anchor which is right at the end of the narrow ridgelet or the start of the steep couloir, but the rock is extremely unreliable (like someone glued sand). Left below I observed an 'easy' bypass which for me alone after one hour of searching for a passage proved impassable out of caution, so I returned to the top of the tower again and luckily found the anchor from which you descend without issues to the notch or the top of the scree gully of the normal approach and then to the summit only the bypass of the last tower past the natural cairn and along the ledge remains.

Yes, we came up the normal route to Široka peč. Bypass of the last tower along the ledge is awesome . Then we thought of traversing the ridge to Dovški križ too, but it was a bit late, so we chickened out that we'd get stuck somewhere. Next time we'll do the crossing. This tower above the notch would be interesting also in the contra direction, i.e. up.

Yesterday my friend and I went to Široka peč from Za Aka and from the summit continued along the ridge to Dovški Križ. Followed by descent to Poldov rovt. Exactly the reverse route as the one I did alone last year. Definitely yesterday's direction is harder, as we climbed all intermediate towers directly, without bypasses.
The route is suitable only for the most experienced mountaineers and secured or with a guide.
There were many hikers yesterday on the edge of the Amphitheater, from Kukova špica, Škrnatarica, the ridge to Dovški Križ and DK itself, while we were alone on this side.

Ajda, you caught us nicely in the Amphitheater, the only spot in the summit part where I took off the helmet and pulled out the poles. Looks like excellent zoom on the camera, well true I'm pretty bunched up. You probably shot us from DK. Thanks for the pic. lp.

I'm wondering if anyone has gone to Široka peč from Aka this year. I don't know how much snow is left under the Amphitheater or what the whole tour is like. I plan to go up this weekend and any info is important to me.

Yesterday to Široka peč from G. Martuljek. Long and strenuous tour, impressions still maturing. Otherwise good conditions, key spots as described, belays equipped, no major issues. Log box before Amphitheater flooded, consequently logbook soaked too. No water issues at summit, signed in as 420th since 1998. Not much time to enjoy summit, long descent ahead, reached valley in pitch dark anyway. Participants: Peter, Andrej, Božo and me; for me definitely hardest and richest experience so far .
