On Wednesday, 24.6., to Široka peč from GM. The approach gully is still fully covered with snow, so progress is fast. The snowfield is still below the hardest part, the jump into the Amphitheater, and on the approach to the ledge at the end of the cirque; elsewhere it causes no problems and is useful for descent nasmeh. Signed in on the summit under numbers 559 and 560. For descent, anchors are set up; on some of them I replaced or added new prusiks.
The tour is truly worthy of respect, and for the ascent itself one needs considerable mileage, good fitness, and knowledge of climbing and rope techniques.

Has anyone been to Široka peč from GM in the last week? Wondering if I can save a kg of winter gear in the backpack or if it's still needed. Thanks.

I only have summit from Oltarček - I know that means nothingzmeden Gullies were clear high up. Date-wise I'd still take the gear.

In the upper part, I don't think you'll need it. How it is below in the gully, hard to say. There is little snow at this altitude. Also below the Three Larches it is practically clear compared to last year.

We were there on 5.7.2020. We had all gear with us. There was some snow below the amphitheater and there at least the ice axe was useful.

@cason Bravo! Top tour - Široka Peč is always something special and I'll gladly return to the area. The upper gully can be fully abseiled almost to the rope that aids the ramp to the amphitheater. Good luck further nasmeh

Yesterday perfect day on Široka peč with bivouac on triple previous evening. Tour for the soul, when you don't want to go anywhere else...

On descents we replaced two prusiks, even a newer one as it was worn (above triple below amphitheater).

Yesterday (20.6.) to Široka peč from Gozd Martuljek. First boulder - stream on the left side, so on the right side (on the way back an auxiliary rope is placed here). After the first boulder before the wet rock barrier left over the "rickety" snow bridge - ice axe recommended. Snow still on some smaller sections, doesn't cause problems, ice axe might still come in handy. For the descent into the notch along the entry ledge / traverse from the cirque a rope is placed. Great weather and excellent conditions. Some photos to show the conditions and a bit of the route profile for easier orientation.

Thanks for the excellent description. Congratulations on the completed tour. Would like a comment on picture 16: maybe drawn line here too and how was the descent over that step from the Amphitheater.
