Look, what a surprise. I'm really glad you were here in our neck of the woods and climbed Skalnica via this interesting path. Holy Mountain is a mountain of grace; I think it is felt. Whoever seeks peace finds it.

@sabina.7, yes, it can be felt...and it's really nice to find so much peace on the mountain that was a scene of so much unrest in the past...

Now there is peace, yes. In the past this mountain was crisscrossed with shooting trenches and thousands of artillery shells flew onto it and took thousands of lives.

They say, whoever wasn't on Škabrijel, Holy Mountain or Sabotin hasn't experienced hell like back then.

The path is interesting though, but I don't like the vegetation, grass is high and unusual, soil also isn't like it was before the first war anymore, it's destroyed and that's why the vegetation is uninteresting too.

Absolutely, due to the diversity of vegetation, the most beautiful is Sabotin. The Holy Mountain has such vegetation as is characteristic for the whole area from Škabrijel and then to Kuclja, although I agree it's somewhat poorer. The grass is so high in many places and in summer it's not suitable for walking because there are areas where ticks just attack you. The last part of the path, that trail from St. Francis to the church, is wonderful. What happened in the past in these parts will remain recorded for a long time in the place and in the people. Such wounds don't heal easily and leave a very long-term trace.

I would like to ask for information: where on the Holy Mountain can one get the stamp of the extended SPP? Thanks!

On the Holy Mountain I didn't manage to find the stamp (not even at the locals or at the souvenir stall)!

On Sunday I was on the Holy Mountain. I think the stamp of the transversale is no longer there, but there is the RTV Ljubljana path stamp on the wall, on the house next to the cemetery.

On Sunday I set off with a friend on a pilgrimage to the Holy Mountain. In the morning we went from Kamenj, above Vrtovina, and climbed to the Sredčavenska trail, along it we traversed under Veliki rob on scenic slopes and arrived at Kopitnik, then past the Skozno window, across Ravnica to Prevalje, and along the trail to the Holy Mountain! It was very nice, the weather ideal for such a path.

"But, on nice days you can see as far as Venice. Too bad you didn't come yesterday," said the waiter at the summit inn. However – I can say his friendliness outweighed the poor views, since we really didn't see the sea, though the Julian Alps occasionally showed outlines. It was "misty" around here yesterday. Actually it didn't bother us at all, there was enough sun for short sleeves, good mood we brought along. Free day we originally planned for olive picking, but they finished a day earlier and so we got the chance to finally visit Holy Mountain. Well, first time for me, "my pilgrim" visits it more often. Since quite some time passed since our last joint hike, we chose the trail Below Skalnica – Holy Mountain, which is gentle and long enough not to reach the top too fast. Not many pilgrims yesterday, mostly we were alone and probably that's why we stayed at the top longer than ascent and descent combined. And good persimmon slices served... and sunset, nice to watch despite mists... Definitely coming back to check if Venice is really visible... As for conditions - nothing but beautiful autumn ones, can't say otherwise.

because it's quite annoying, no trail namely but road. One trail I'd recommend, but not easy to explain. I can send you a map though

From Nova Gorica railway station to church on Holy Mountain around 2.5 hours moderate walk. But more than half on road.
