It was completely accidental, nothing planned.

Darinka yes, it'd be good to go to some course.
But there was confusion in settings (toy camera effect), couldn't switch back to "auto" in time.

A bit fed up with snow and winter, yesterday I had a chance to visit the Slovenian coast, where real spring awaited me. Oh, what a balm for the soul, good sea air, a bit of breeze, sun, some clouds and a nice walk: Strunjan - Fiesa - Piran - Portorož - tunnel back to start, cca 13 km. regards nasmeh

what could be more beautiful and abundantly flowering?

This time with VGN section PD Škofja Loka on a hike along the coast from Izola to Piran. First we viewed Škocjan Inlet. Then from Izola to the end of European path E6 to Strunjan. Then along coastal path to Piran. Path actually runs through Strunjan Landscape Park. Then across salt pans to Fiesa. Ends in Piran. We walked nearly 20 km.

In the park, Camargue horses and Podolian cattle graze freely.

These are those horses. In nature they live in France. Adults are completely white.

Podolian cattle - originates from Ukraine.

The bay is embedded in an urban environment.

The start of our hike was in Izola - there the Istrian marathon was taking place.

Above Izola - on the European footpath E6.

Fire brigade - as always half of them are missing.

The doctor prescribed therapy to me these days "walking with poles on flat".
Well, it went without poles too, path along the sea from Strunjan to Piran and back the same way.

Of course sunbathing in Strunjan under the cliff couldn't be missed (but the doc didn't recommend that nasmeh

Yesterday wasn't the best day for visiting the coast, but the rest went according to plan. Fog covered the views until 13:00, later the sun melted it quite a bit, but not along the entire coast.

Our section of the Slovenian coast ran from Piran to Sečovlje. On the way we tried to stick to the coast as much as possible, except on the return from Seča to Lucija we went by road and thus shortened the path and saved time. Walking was about 21 km, lasted around 5 hours.

Along the way admired the birds of the Sečovlje Salt Pans, among them the little egret, and the kingfisher.

Well, we saw the mountains too, on the way back above the motorway they shone nicely in the sun nasmeh

Jože managed to photograph it like this, it should be a nutria

could be a green sandpiper, but didn't show its legs

on return along the road from Seča to Lucija, shorten the path and save time

along the coast from Portorož to Piran yesterday many walkers were seen and several languages heard

Piran on return yesterday, nicer than in the morning

Nice/Very Nice...By picture 15 you wrote that you shortened the path between Seča and Lucija...maybe an idea for sometime in mežikanje

Pic.12 Wikipedia says: nutria or coypu, which is larger than muskrat (Muskrats are sometimes confused with nutria, which is also a water-living rodent from South America. Muskrat is smaller, better adapted to colder climate, and has a laterally flattened tail, while nutria's tail is round and rat-like).

Anyway, we have quite a few nutrias in Koper and they are really cute, especially when grazing, since they are herbivores.

Well, yesterday we did the last stage of walking along the Slovenian coast, which was the path from Izola to Koper or further. We wanted to go to Školjčišče before Ankaran, but what when we had to continue along the road. You can't reach the coast, we got to the middle of Bonifika bridge, then we gave up on reaching it, as parked cars were still spreading everywhere waiting for their buyers. Here business has priority over nature's beauty eek

and I just fear they'll overrun Školjčišče and Škocjan Inlet someday.

The coastal path to Koper is really nice, suitable for anyone (no need to climb fences), for hikers especially expecting nice views of the peaks that appear on the horizon, if you're lucky of course. And yesterday we caught some of that luck too, as the Julian Alps showed up nicely a few times, we even spotted Triglav and just for that it's worth coming down here.

Together we did about 20 km, walking for approximately 5-6 hours.
