Storžek is a peak near Ledinski vrh, only it's not on the maps. About new paths I don't know anything either.

For Storžek it's best to check the Austrian alpine association pages, maybe they mention making a new path to it (as far as I know Storžek has been visited for a long time). To Ledinski vrh there's already a nice marked path for a long time and I don't know why they'd make a new one?

To Storžek leads a secured climbing path, seemed quite demanding to me, although here (http://www.planinci.at/poti/poti_koroska.htm) it says it's easy some pics here (http://andymann.moj-album.com/album/8712593/)

Was about a week ago in these parts: http://www.turni-klub-gora.si/~frances/razmere/ - Ledinski vrh from Belska Kočna (27.5) Definitely still some snow in the cirque, in the gully itself - climbing part I think shouldn't be much. If it's accidentally ''snow-covered'' you still have Ledinski vrh as reserve.

Today we were on Storžek from Belska Kočna direction. Path is dry (just one 10m snow patch on flat, no problem). Climbing section completely dry too, fixed gear in good condition.

I'm wondering if I can climb Storžek without harness and self-protection kit and how the path compares to that on Brana or Ojstrica (not Kopinškova).

You can go without protection, but only for experienced, and you never know. Cables quite loose. Lower part more demanding but well protected, upper bit tricky, especially when wet, because soil in between. Stones loosen too. Helmet mandatory. Much more demanding than Brana or Ojstrica...short and nice...

Last year I went to Storžek directly along the ridge from Jezersko saddle. Up you can climb, but down it's a bit harder...

Jožeta or nata24 (or someone else), please provide a description of the access to the start of the secured path to Storžek from Jezersko saddle, because I found only a description from Belska Kočna. Thanks.

Storžek is that little bump right on the left (further left Ledinski vrh, in background Babe). Opposite Ledinski vrh. But you have to descend a bit towards Belska Kočna (on the eastern side).

@Edina: you have to go to Savinjsko sedlo, then down towards Belska kočna, a bit below on the rock is the Klettersteig sign!! Regards B

Thanks everyone for the answers. The trail is without special features and well maintained. The summit is indeed somewhat less known, so uncrowded, also not enough space on it for crowds. Views can thus travel peacefully to surrounding and more distant peaks.

Despite the forecasted Thursday weather worsening, I still decided to visit Storžek. The path to Savinjsko sedlo without special features, to Storžek without ice axe I couldn't ascend. Almost all cables under snow, deeply frozen, had to dig them out with ice axe. The path leads up the gully, which is tricky in mud, but with snow in it really problematic. Now it's clear why Austrians wired almost to the top. At the summit breathless, views super, no one around, and thinking this way, I had this part of KSA mostly to myself today. Regards
