Turkish Mountain

Really nicely filmed, Metod and without image distortion which always bothers me most. The music is also fitting. The action in the 7th minute could have ended differently.velik nasmeh
Good luck onwards.

From Friday to Saturday we camped under the Turkish gully, then on Saturday an attempt towards the top of Turska gora. Unfortunately, we had to turn back in the gully (too much snow, fog, snowfall, wind ...). On Friday it rained up to the Okrešelj hut, higher it snowed, sinking up to the knees and beyond, snow wet. Overnight about 12 cm of snow fell. The next day conditions were similar in the gully too, only everything a bit more frozen overnight - fresh snow on top, then thin icy crust, below 30-50 cm of unprocessed snow. In the upper part of the gully larger amounts of snow, avalanche risk.
But it was an excellent experience, especially when after a whole day of rain/snowfall you finally pitch the tent and trample enough snow to prepare soup velik nasmeh

Has anyone gone to the Turkish gully these days? Interested in conditions in it, mornings probably very icy?

I'm forwarding you the reply about the conditions that a colleague who was on Rinka yesterday (8.3.) wrote to me. Not frozen nasmeh.
LP.

...hi, super conditions, bottom of the gully, right at the start, is very hard, approximately up to the height where that hillock on the left ends, there is a huge avalanche and tall snow boulders, which are completely soft and sink deeply, we spent a lot of time and energy there, further up it's super, up to the boulders in the middle of the gully no crampons needed as the front part of the shoe sinks about 8 cm, so fine walking, from boulders onwards a bit harder and ok without crampons, sinks about 5 cm but crampons fine, from Turkish gully onwards towards Rinkas nicely soft and sinks up to 10 cm, where sun hits the slope at right angle iced about 2 cm, when you step it sinks and below is just powder, really super conditions, going down you can frontpoint as it sinks nicely, we looked for softer for descent and it was really super, from boulders onwards strong wind and cold, then calmed, warmer and calm, almost no wind, so really super conditions, on return at bottom turned far right above avalanche and nice walking, no sinking, so I recommend if you go already above GRS hut top of meadow go straight up then higher traverse to Turkish gully where touring skiers usually go up, on touring skiers' track to top of snow field, then normal onwards...

@Lisa forwarded a reply where it also says:
" . . . and then higher you traverse to the Turkish gully, where touring skiers usually go up, on the touring skiers' ski track, to the top of the snow field, then normal onwards... "

Unwritten mountaineering rule is that skiers and hikers use each their own track. Holes in the ski track greatly hinder the ascent with touring skis, a touring skier also destroys the foot track if climbing it. For hikers it also applies that they use one track upwards, steps for example, and another downwards so as not to ruin the first one.

Purely well-meant advice mežikanje

Turbo that's basically true and I agree... but here the thing is a bit different, no classic ski track, almost everyone picks their own path, with steepness the matter escalates...

And what do you do then where there is no track or ski trace and you don't go down the same path? Is everyone "satisfied" in this case or should you go back the same path, but a bit more to the right or left?
Joking aside,... you're exaggerating a bit with this, as if you own these tracks. Expecting such rules on one very crowded mountain is absurd.
Where there is no big crowd, there are no such "problems" anyway.

Just on very crowded mountains it's easier to separate ski and hiking tracks. A crowd of hikers can tread a good track and not destroy the ski one. It's all in individual ethics. Some don't make a single step without a track, others enjoy making tracks.

Today up through the Gully, descent same path.
Road from Logar Valley cottage onwards icy, cars with low clearance might have trouble.zavijanje z očmi Path to Okrešelj still mostly under snow, for descent warmly recommend crampons.mežikanje As for the gully and ascent to top...today excellent conditions. Snow also firm below gully and didn't soften even on descent.nasmeh
Also above gully excellent firm snow that stayed with me to the top. Views and weather today top class anyway. Really worth taking leave.velik nasmeh

Turska Mountain on Friday March 17th offered exceptional views and very good ski touring. Route without issues, caution in gully needed against falling projectiles in form of ice and rocks!!!
