I'm forwarding you the reply about the conditions that a colleague who was on Rinka yesterday (8.3.) wrote to me. Not frozen . LP. ...hi, super conditions, bottom of the gully, right at the start, is very hard, approximately up to the height where that hillock on the left ends, there is a huge avalanche and tall snow boulders, which are completely soft and sink deeply, we spent a lot of time and energy there, further up it's super, up to the boulders in the middle of the gully no crampons needed as the front part of the shoe sinks about 8 cm, so fine walking, from boulders onwards a bit harder and ok without crampons, sinks about 5 cm but crampons fine, from Turkish gully onwards towards Rinkas nicely soft and sinks up to 10 cm, where sun hits the slope at right angle iced about 2 cm, when you step it sinks and below is just powder, really super conditions, going down you can frontpoint as it sinks nicely, we looked for softer for descent and it was really super, from boulders onwards strong wind and cold, then calmed, warmer and calm, almost no wind, so really super conditions, on return at bottom turned far right above avalanche and nice walking, no sinking, so I recommend if you go already above GRS hut top of meadow go straight up then higher traverse to Turkish gully where touring skiers usually go up, on touring skiers' track to top of snow field, then normal onwards...
