Weather forecast disappointed me a bit today, but still a nice day spent. Started at Trilobit hut, then along awful forest road to about 1200m, where first snow starts. From there conditions excellent for walking, snow doesn't sink, icy in places. Before the pasture turn right steeply up the slope of Kamnitnik. After short rest on that summit turn left up to ridge top and along it over Mali vrh to Vajnež. Ideal conditions for hiking, path not technically demanding, only slip risk. For ridge path at these temps crampons and ice axe mandatory. Strong wind greets me at top, sun soon hid behind clouds, so I preferred rest under planina Seča. No wind there, and sun accompanied me through forest to the starting point.

Has anyone been to Vajnež recently? Interested in conditions, how much snow, are crampons needed?

If you zigzag a bit your own way, you can avoid almost all snow patches.

Tomorrow we plan to go from Urbas to Vajnež. Has anyone gone on this path in the last days? Interested in path condition and snow cover. From Lipce rest area not much white is visible. Am I wrong? Thanks and best!!!

Was there today.. the path to the bivouac is almost without snow or ice, a bit below the bivouac there is some ice on the path but normally passable without crampons.
further there are some smaller snow patches but they can be bypassed; it goes without problem also over them.
but with the car it will be a bit harder to Urbas, because the road from Valvasor is icy in the shadow. anyway one car was there today nevertheless..

... New marked path past the Trilobit in Javorniški Rovt, across Planina Stamare to Vajnež. A bit steep, nice path that runs through the forest to Hrašenska planina. Markings are currently up to Hrašenska planina, but soon also to the highest peak of Jesenice municipality. My wandering ended over Rida and Medji dol to Trilobit. The path is already drawn on the hiking map.
