Yesterday descending from Rogatec towards Zg.Špeh. Crampons despite summer temps very useful first 15 min descent. Otherwise circular from Rogelj mill over meadow to Lepenatko, Kal, Rogatec, Lemojca, Rogelj no issues. Nice.

Veliki Rogatec Ridge 21.4.2022
Stanko and I tackled the entire V. Rogatec ridge in the morning. We skipped the first few meters and bypassed the ridge start on the right (road cut into the slope), then boldly up the slope - it's steep!. Heart rate full throttle. Above 1400m snow remains start. No special problems, not frozen - SW wind blowing. We climb the ridge with pleasure. No hurry, careful. After approx. 2 hours we spot the cross on Rogatec summit. Descent to saddle then steep ascent to final ridge section before summit. Snow hinders a bit. At cross don't linger long - windy! Continue along ridge to Kal.
At bivouac first rest and proper meal. Then relaxed hike to start.
Snow remains on path. Crossing to shady side, some old frozen snow remains. No other peculiarities.

Please for info on snow or ice remains on the path, if anyone was on Veliki Rogatec last days - path from Špeh and summit to Kal saddle.

26.6.22 went to Veliki Rogatec from Podvolovljek precisely from Rihar farm. Nice marked path leads first to Riharski waterfalls and higher past once mighty Riharska spruce. Arrived at Kal saddle after good 1h 40min. To Rogatec summit via demanding path, descent other side easier variant to Zg Špeh and cross path back to Kal saddle. Descent to valley start. More in post below.

Otherwise right above Cuc waterfall poorly visible path takes you under Lepenatko. Then find marked past Riharska spruce and have loop path.

Today (27.09.) on Veliki Rogatec.

Sv. Lenart - Kal Saddle - Bivouac - Climbing path - Ridge - summit - down to Špeh - shepherd path back to Sv. Lenart.

Rain to summit, to Špeh extremely slippery...

End of high alpine season...

Veliki Rogatec Ridge 12.10.2023:
The ridge was already known to me, for Vinko and Drago it was unknown terrain except marked part.
In Gornji grad we turned right to Šokat. On return we planned to see Srnjak kotle, but Šokatnica and tributaries made such devastation in August floods, we couldn't break through to them. Question what nice remains in that gorge.
We drove to abandoned Srnak farm. Steep tracks and slopes to marked path got our blood pumping and sweat flowing. To Sp. Špeh on marked then right to Sp. Klinar. At Zg. Klinar deer posed from enclosure.
We started ridge right at beginning. This part of ridge not much beauty, so Vinko and Drago already somewhat disappointed. After hour of steep slopes mood improved. Views and climbing rocky sections gave us more enjoyment. After nearly two and a half hours of enjoyment we stepped on Rogáč summit. We had ideal weather, so no rush from top. We recalled memories of adventures from surrounding peaks.
Descended via Kal and Zg. Špeh.

Mačkin Kot first to Lepenatko, then very demanding path to Veliki Rogatec. All snow-free. Descended another path, down much lower didn't know if another path exists, but down to church then steep up and under Lepenatko back.

Nice trip! Instead to church, at zg. Špeh foto 13 could turn right on forest road/track and back to Kal...save some km and elevation. Safe!

Veliki Rogatec

Today nice circular tour to Veliki Rogatec.Up the climbing "very difficult path" descent via partially difficult path.At the summit summer temperatures and wonderful views.The path is not easy, great caution needed to avoid any slip, especially in wet weather.Starting point sv. Lenart.

Below the walls where thousands of auriculas grow, we climb to the ridge and continue to the summit. Descent to Kal and back to the church. nasmeh

Road to the starting point below the church after last year's flood is in quite poor condition. zadrega

About the road I heard they might asphalt it, but for now it's just rumor. It really is in poor condition...

On Sunday we drove on that road and my opinion is it's in pretty good condition compared to last year. A lot of work was done to make the road passable. I'm not a local, but I talked to one. Even with a lower car you can drive, at the starting point then all were like that. Well, except ours. nasmeh

On the last day of this week feeling took me over Lepenatka and Veliki Rogatec. Up past the shepherd's hut, down along the Rogatec ridge over the hardest parts, then steeply towards Špeh. Weather fantastic, hike without special features.
Road to the church is in excellent condition, careful only on short section and on wooden bridge over Kanolščica. Don't know about road passability during the week, as seen works are ongoing.

If you want to experience winter, you have to go to the mountains, in the valley we probably won't see snow anymore. At Črnivec it was still cold in the morning, walking warms me up quickly. Towards Kašna pl. real winter picture, yes once it was like that even in the valley. Continue past Kunšperk saddle, then crossing Kunšperski vrh (quite demanding in these conditions) and already past Lepenatka at Kal. Rogatec from afar looks almost bare, well there's still quite a lot of snow. Weather was great, only disturbed by cold wind.

Along the ridge of Veliki Rogatec 1.11.2025.
We start at sv. Lenart church and head to zg. Špeh. Road to church is solid. From Špeh descent along road to zg. Klinar, where at suitable spot we leave road and head to Rogatec ridge. At start sun still caresses us, then clouds and wind getting stronger. Descent to Kal was quite demanding due to strong gusts. We decide to also walk over Lepenatka, from where we were almost blown away. Also shower caught us. At hunting hut we seek shelter for a moment, then easy pace back to start. Pleasant.
