Does anyone know what the path to Rogatec is like these days? My husband and I would start from Kranjski Rak. Thanks and best regards!

Two days ago there was still some small new snow on top. Also on path from dir. upper Špeh and down to Kala some snow patches. Path quite slippery so needs caution, esp. going down to Kala. Nice view from top.

Well guys and gals, hope some success. I ordered 2 telescopes, tip, plastic snowshoe via internet. Got the tip (differs from previous and forgot snowshoe). Both telescopes black (don't mind), no others avail. Would be glad if someone finds and informs me. Then arrange pickup. Then I was in state caring more to dig out of trouble and safe to valley. Maybe someone found and took for >spare parts<. Regards

Probably no success today. Got to Lenart church then waited in car because pouring so couldn't even put on boots, had raincoats thinking light rain but bucketed. Decision - home, at one already home. For later... Nice greetings and next hope climbing to admire edelweiss again.

Hey!! Good and bad news!! A friend called me from Rogatec - he found the remainder of the pole today. I wanted to check a week ago - if it was still there?? Weather was worse and we stayed home.. There were also some well-intentioned promises from guys and gals that they would look (thanks!). More than >spare parts< it tormented me all along - as if I had left part of myself there. It was not far away (according to my buddy's story), so it stayed right at the top. I'd like to tell you the story of the mountaineer - the finder of part of my hiking pole (over 50 years actively hiking in the mountains). When we were returning last fall from the hike (http://www.hribi.net/trenutnerazmere.asp?slo=1&gorovjeid=11&id=1276) at some bend he wordlessly stopped the car. He got out and started searching for something in the bushes by the road. When I got out too, curious about what happened, he pulled a car wheel from the slope below us. This wheel with a slashed tire was thrown away years ago by a >hiker< with whom they set off in a group to visit Peca. He slashed the tire and rode as long as it went.. Then he unbolted the wheel and threw it under the road. We then threw that wheel into the trash container in Mežica. The bad news is - the hard disk reached the end of its life on my computer. With it, thousands of recordings (I diligently saved some to CD) - some are gone... Regards

Geppo Experts can recover most of the data. Inquire, offers can be found on the net. (What a shame about the memories, whatever they are!?)

Today in the morning we visited Veliki Rogatec. The reason for the visit was: A year ago a colleague joined us who had no experience in the mountains. He listened to our stories and wished for something similar himself. Almost a year he visited nearby hills - some alone, some with us and gathered experience and fitness. He hadn't been on rock yet. Yesterday he expressed a desire for adrenaline. I prepared a surprise for him - VERY DEMANDING PATH KAL/VELIKI ROGATEC. In a partly cloudy morning we drive towards G. Grad. Raduha is already in fog and probably snowing. Storm fogs are already pulling towards Lepenatka and Rogatec. In the rain we park at 8:00 - bend (Sv Lenart). Despite the rain steeply uphill. The crowns protect us a bit from the downpour. When we reach out of the forest-KAL, it stops raining. The colleague thinks: THIS IS IT!! (SUMMIT) I show him the vertical wall and tell him: still have to go over this. He >CHEERS UP< at the sign - VERY DEMANDING PATH!! Grassy scree towards the bivouac is completely torn up (wild boars) We talk a bit more about the path (the path is wet) and I also warn him that I have a rope for belaying with me - if he thinks it won't work. He mastered the path without problems. There are some spots - a bit more difficult. In short - he proved himself!! He liked it! The whole path envelops us in fogs, no rain. At times, nice views open up. At 9:45 we are at the summit. Some photographing and viewing the surroundings and descent towards upper Špeh. There snack in the sun and then descent to the car. Regards

Today's nice sunny morning I use for visit to V.R. At 7:00 park at chapel Sv. Lenart and head to Zg. Špeh. In half an hour at abandoned farm (some renovation happening) and along traverse under Rogača wall to Kal. Also to Kal in half an hour and gaze at Rogatec wall. Always feel like a big ship sailing towards me when looking at this rock end. Ascent (quite steep!!) in shade, cold, dry rock and in 15 minutes at the tips which I previously saw from Kal. On ridge sun warmth and warm east wind envelop me. Along ridge go slowly. Surrender to views. Silence, only bird chirping and chainsaw sound somewhere far below. Soon at cross. Lie down in dry grass which emits special pleasant scent in sun warmth. Would lie whole morning.. Photograph and surrender to sun. Clouds start to appear. Take backpack and descent to Z. Špeh. At chapel refresh with cold water and at 10:30 at car. Clouds increasingly cover the blue of the sky! Regards

Nice sunny Saturday morning slowly woke up, the mountains glowed in the morning dawn. I head towards Kranjski rak and further to Kašna planina, where I leave the car. The path leads through beech forest over Kunšperk saddle to Lepenatka. On the summit strong wind surprised me, which intensified to the saddle at Kal. Yellowed larches barely resisted the wind's force, scattering their needles around. From Kal a beautiful view appears on steep walls rising to Veliki Rogatec summit. I ascend the demanding path to the summit, where a beautiful view opens all around, especially Ojstrica with its snow-covered walls stood out. The descent towards Kogl and back to Kal, and the same path back to Kašna planina. Wonderful day with beautiful weather and even better views everywhere around.

Saturday 15.1.2011 Rogatec ridge is nice. Some snow in gullies when climbing from Kal (no issues). Descent from Rogatec summit to Špeh (easy path) becomes quite demanding due to icy path.
