Today early morning on the Peak above Škrbina. No issues on the direct path from Planina Podkuk. Neither on ascent nor descent with my buddy did we meet anyone. When we started descending towards Planina Razor just before 9 am the sun was already scorching, so we couldn't help but be surprised by a family heading from Planina Razor towards the summit around 11. They said they're used to the heat. Well, everyone has their own pleasures velik nasmehvelik nasmeh

6.7.2018 after 4 nights above Bohinj exploring. Haven't been there before. From Ukanc along shepherds' path and switchbacks under Migovec past Planina to Vrh Škrbine and before Vrh Planje, back over Konjsko almost to Zadnji Vogel and without skis down steep macadam of Žagarjev graben. Nice autumn in midsummer. Paths wintered well. Rare soft snow patches no problem. Hunters' path from Ukanc a bit more overgrown but still followable, just watch the junction to Lovski dom, poorly visible, and under Migovec where I went left instead of right. Cairns rare.

Starting from Tolminske Ravne up towards pl. Razor. Snow starts there, hard snow accompanied me all morning. First to Meja, then back down the gully and up to Peak above Škrbina. Whole day quiet, away from crowded starts. Light wind picked up in the afternoon, south side already hot and on descent it initially sank a couple of cm, above pl. Razor even more. Really nice day.

Afternoon from pl. Kuk to Žabiški kuk and on to Vogel, Globoko, Meja, Peak above Škrbina, light breeze all the way. Mostly along the ridge, except under Vogel there's a section all undermined so I preferred to descend to the north side and reach Globoko there. No storms, no rain, met no one from junction pl. Razor-Žabiški kuk. Nice afternoon.

After adrenaline drive to Planina Kuk pure enjoyment followed. To Koča na Planini Razor a nice warm-up, then we followed well-marked, varied and autumn-colored direct path to summit. Path has just right amount of everything to not be boring, bit of scrambling in scree, crossing (not too) steep grassy slopes then some rocks and scree of all sizes, few pegs and more wires which you're really grateful for only on descent, and ever more magnificent views the higher you go. Finally spacious summit with English grass and bench, yesterday unfortunately also lots of wind that didn't let us enjoy long.

Yesterday 10.1.2020 on Peak above Škrbina. Started at Tolminske Ravne, continued direct to Planina Razor and on to summit. On south slopes snow starts at ca 1800m. From there winter gear needed. Nice sunny day with light wind on top.

Sometimes silence is the most beautiful song. And yesterday it was. Because on the path from Tolminske Ravne past the hut on Planina Razor and on to the peak above Škrbina we met absolutely no one. Haven't been there in summer. Nor in winter. Day was cloudless. Windless. Still lots of snow. On the path. And summits. Views gorgeous. On top you see you're actually on a precipice. Didn't stay long. Descent awaited. Which was demanding. Beautiful tour, especially first time. And will stay in nice memory for long.
Žabijski kuk still has plenty of snow.1
There is quite a lot of walking from planina Razor to that steep part.2

Darinka, wonderful. Unique photos. Peak above Škrbina is one of the most beautiful peaks around here for me. I can hardly wait for a nice weekend to climb up to it.
One question, was it very frozen towards the top? From the pictures it didn't look like it.

Thanks miratan. The ascent was fine. It was sinking in but no problems. When you get under the steep slab you zigzag anyway. And of course you watch not to step into windblown snow as much as possible. The steepness is quite significant all the way to the top. The descent was demanding because the snow had hardened due to the strong sun and didn't hold much. Had to go backwards and step carefully. And there were some holes here and there. It was warm like summer and no wind. Such conditions are probably quite common in spring.

Tolminske Ravne and up the gully direct under the slab-Peak above Škrbina. Snow starts at 1300m. Conditions excellent, sinking only a cm or so. Turned onto the dry ridge. Crampons off, gloves off and up the ridge. Higher up crampons back on. Conditions all the time just as you want them. A bit windy, not cold, not hot either. Descent along the "marked" path and lower down back along my own tracks to Tolminske Ravne.

In Tolminske Ravne near the parking lot there's an ad on the notice board for farm eggs from the nearby farm. If the inns are closed, at least support farms these days.
