What's going on with hribi.net?!

Hello everyone! This question probably isn't bothering just me but there are quite a few of us who are surprised/outraged/alienated by the situation that's arisen on the portal lately... The forum is actually becoming unreadable. I've noticed many posters who once diligently posted their contributions and wrote about conditions have disappeared, they're gone, it seems pointless to them, meaningless... It's really a shame, as the portal regarding photo quality and current conditions (was?) top-notch. We even have a thread that I proposed myself: about alp. ascents (although most of you think it doesn't belong here ). In recent months I've noticed changes, mockery, scolding, suppression, pointless chatter that has no place here. This is just a portal for hikers, mountaineers, alpinists... Here we post current conditions, attach photos, comment on gear, literature... Everything connected to mountains, hills, highlands... Rok and Tadej are doing great work! They regularly check the status and read all possible crap that doesn't concern them at all... I am the first to admit that many times I haven't acted/responded maturely and patiently to a question/advised... I'm aware of that, but enough is enough. There's a limit somewhere! Things that have nothing to do with mountains have started appearing here! Always the same questions that you somehow can't get past. In the end I don't even know who's the fool here anymore?! This is meant for all of us, without exception. Many of you have thought, what is "this one" up to again?! The rest know what I'm talking about. As one of the members of the big virtual mountain family, I really care where we're heading

Geolog79, you're not the only one wondering about these things. I think the forum needs reorganizing, namely by moving all topics that don't belong from current conditions to other sections (like e.g. riddle without end, memory photos etc.). Even if a topic opens in this forum, move it elsewhere! Not only has it become unreadable! It's practically untraceable... Then some have their emotional outbursts against certain forumers due to past grudges or touchiness or even other inclinations. I won't say I don't sometimes react inappropriately to things that bother me, but I simply can't ignore the injustices some do. Sadly often when reading stuff it reminds me of "gossipy" chatter and rudeness of some who want to chat aimlessly without basis or sensible topic (obviously have nothing to do in their lives). Geolog79, we're already two who care where we're heading!

It would help if "General conversations" weren't included in latest posts on the front page (which I assume is the main entry point). Otherwise they contain a good third of all posts, but due to topic nature lately (riddles and polls (hence high share)), front page news aren't clear anymore. This year worth praising are the news on snow conditions.

Me too, the last month bothers me, or how long, when opening hribi.net main page, first notice under Forum - conditions topics like "Riddle without end", "Introduce yourself: where from", "Age of hribi.net users" etc. Ah, just noticed previous post. lynx, agree with you. General talks should be separate, better not shown on main page. Sometimes some stupid talks deter me from reading the portal right from start.

Tomažke ... Sometimes some stupid talks deter me from reading the portal right from start. That's also good sometimes, to keep pressure normal.

If general topics aren't shown on the front page, there won't be replies either, so that's not an option. I don't know what's controversial; for me more controversial is that quarrels happen on hribi.net. I don't know why you open such already existing topics if you don't like them; skip the topic and read the next interesting one. Someone will always be bothered by this, that, or the other thing. I like the hribi.net portal VERY MUCH, one of the best related to hills. I think people are most interested in described trails; everything else is so-so. Once again, I emphasize hribi.net is a very good website.

The quality of added routes, GPS tracks,... is excellent. But I completely agree with my predecessors that the posts on the forum are catastrophic. On the forum you should get a good overview of conditions (that's why the title is Current Conditions and not Chatter about...). Maybe it would really be appropriate to remove general conversations from the front page, as Tomažke says. Those who want them will find them with two clicks.

Maybe some got tired of your blabbering. Alpine ascents are logged in the table. There are plenty of books for tours, ascents, approaches and routes. For current conditions you go on the tour and check; if not, you can turn around. If you don't have gear you're not for "the hills".....................no hard feelings.

Thanks Tadej and Rok, I think now the forum will be clearer since you separated general talks.lp

I'm quite satisfied. At least let him say what's bugging him, what could be fixed, what to abolish (in a good sense I mean) and all will be OK. Anyway hribi.net is one of the better things when you start the computer. lp

I suggest completing the list of mountains with mountains in Montenegro. I'm planning to visit Durmitor next year and would be really happy with some data on the local mountains. Those who already know it - just add data on Montenegrin mountains.

You can find a lot about mountains in Montenegro on the PZS forum.

Yes, there is quite a bit to look at on these pages too. Geolog, I'm interested generally. Just like the arranged mountains in the "list of mountains" section, I'd add Montenegro too, and maybe more. Nice and slowly. These pages are unique and veeeeery useful. At least for me. All praise. I've already found some things via the internet. But the way paths are described on hribi.net I really like. And everything would be in one place. lp and thanks

Descriptions are written by visitors, so if there are none by then, you'll have a first-class chance to add them - you'll have fresh pics and info. Think about it when shooting, so junctions get documented too.
