What's going on with hribi.net?!

Duco3. 11. 2011 23:07:07
No end no end, as Iztok Mlakar would say.

Anonymity is part of the internet, like it or not. Complaining about nicknames is pointless and it's unfair to crown everyone behind a nickname a coward now. Many people can thus actually express their opinion, which they might not in public. That's the charm (and problem) of forums.

I have nothing against Igor, but I think that even 100 years of experience in hiking, alpinism and mountain rescue doesn't give you the right to look down on others or comment on every little thing someone writes not exactly according to your pattern (sorry, but that reference to "experts" was just as completely unnecessary and provocative!).

In the end it's all meaningless anyway because no side wants to give in, so every bickering is doomed to a barren end and it's only right that the admin deletes such things!

My 2 cents.

A lot of spoken words are unnecessary... sensitivity is also too great, given that we mountaineers are tougher people... human weaknesses are present everywhere... but Slovenians are a special nation that is not adorned only with superlatives but with all sorts of other things....

It's easiest from behind the chair to "bash" real mountaineers, hikers and even alpinists...

Oh yeah, and the internet is really quite anonymous and if you required registration with name and surname, nothing would improve — one could register as MojcaMavec, JonTrollington or IbnAlabahari, and no one could verify identity. velik nasmeh

It's really sad what's happening on this site right now. "Problems" have been appearing for some time and everything is only getting worse. Yesterday I talked to a climbing partner about this (he hinted to me himself that the site is becoming more like a farce than anything else) and I have to admit I agree with him. As much time as Igor devoted to this site and useful tips we got from him, it's really sad that because of such absurdity everything is thrown in the trash. Everyone has and will have their "cakes", we all do here after all. But this is not about one user, but about ALL OF US. I speak up first that I'm sometimes hostile. But that's how we are, 100 people, 100 wonders. The site has become a tragicomedy not just satire. Admins can't act on "how much straw each has in their head", they can only delete our crap that we declare here. And so that no one says again "let him first sweep in front of his own doorstep..." I have swept, cleaned and even vacuumed on top. I don't hide behind anonymity, all my data is accessible, even on ZS you can arrange a lot. The net is a fairy tale. Barks, barks but doesn't bite... I can't stand the new arrivals on K who with their arrogant comments tear down the site, on K I can't stand people for whom grammar on hribi.net is more important than current conditions and they comment on how many mistakes someone made in a sentence!; I can't stand know-it-alls who heal their ego and problems here (we have institutions for that), I'm also losing the desire to post anything at all because it doesn't make sense anyway. For whom? For those who will look for commas, capital letters, who will comment on equipment they've never seen live in their life? After all, why my effort? Why post and attach pictures after a tour? Such and similar questions I've been asking myself for quite some time and many other users too. We don't post material for ourselves, but for posterity who will find the info useful and use it. Most don't understand at all that this is not boasting and showing off, like I can you can't! Because I climb FOR MYSELF and go FOR MYSELF not for you. That we post is just our good will, we are not obliged to post anything. Where are the posts from users like turbo, jaša, knap, šodrovec. Fewer and fewer posts or none at all, same with me. No point posting if in every post you get intergenerational and different-thinking shock. First you need to sort out your own drawer, only then go to the neighbor's! One more thing, "success" is not measured by the number of profile views and posts, but internal satisfaction is what counts... Among us are world-class alpinists, tough "experts in pathless terrain", excellent mountaineers, hikers... extremists of all kinds! Man, here there's everything, even those for whom bickering is second home... instead of using what's offered to learn as much as possible. No, we f*** one another. For what? For fuck's health!!!
Everyone should ask themselves why they registered, I know the answer myself.

Regards, anonymous

It's illusory to expect people to change because of a little internet interaction, so it's also quite pointless to try!

Maybe this would be expected more from viharnik, but you have to strive to be a boulder. nasmeh Calm, cool-headed and immovable, especially towards a pebble on the scree that provokes you with everything from chamois, Current conditions to Proper mountaineering equipment. Or as the internet would say, you have to be more like honey badger.

Fire is never extinguished with fire.

Some things are really funny when it comes to various individual outbursts every now and then. But still, with such a number of hribi.net users, all this is quite normal-realistic and acceptable. I know good mountaineers who don't post much on the net. The reasons are personal and beliefs which I don't delve into because I respect free will. It's certainly true that a mountaineer gets the most out of his experiences from the trip he did, and some don't like sharing it with others, others do. There's a huge amount of such or other information on hribi.net and it certainly contributes to better awareness, equipment use, path finding, ascent difficulty assessment etc. for all mountaineering enthusiasts. Everyone probably also realizes where their limits in the mountains are, knowledge, abilities. And not just that. Mountains are there so that everyone finds something in them that attracts him, the summit can be important or not. For me, it's definitely not conditional, because there's a kind of summit already in me and I can turn back just below the summit without any urge or disappointment, others have to reach the mountain summit at all costs.
Generally, I think that providing fresh conditions from mountain visitors on any mountain site is more useful than the opposite. Already from a safety point of view, from descriptions and photos or notes on paths, we can discern a lot, that is e.g. invisible and unregistered to those few avalanche stations or PDs in our Julian Alps. Finally, it's also nice to see some angle of our mountains through photos where we haven't been hiking for a long time. As I mentioned before, patience and tolerance among users is needed. Especially if there are comments, let them be genuine, realistic, justified and non-offensive. I can't imagine how we Westerners would cope in some 10 million city in the east, where there's no space on the streets even for normal walking, buses are full to the last extent of a person and beyond, and everything works in order.
With understanding and love, if a person has ever developed it, everything can be solved, a lot achieved, especially a lot of beautiful experiences, and not like with us in the west, where there's enough of everything, but man is poor, spiritually lost without basic God's values or guidelines.

Duco, I completely agree!
Aonuk1, I think l.g. also has the right to post and share his impressions in his own way. I don't know why I should skip him. In a way, he's even spiced up the forum.
As for the "old cats", they were once beginners too. But back then you had to be quiet and hide your climbing gear and goal, now thank God it's different. But it seems "old cats" can't stand it and want to continue like that.
I appreciate everyone, even those who can't take well-intentioned criticism.
Above all, as I mentioned once, on the forum there should be as little intolerance and humiliation as possible and as many different path descriptions and current conditions as possible.
As for anonymity, I have no problem with it. My nickname is a combination of first and last name!

I'm relatively new to the forum, but not so new to the mountains nasmeh. The site is great for me mainly because of the path descriptions - they are really helpful and professional, adapted to the widest spectrum of mountaineers and "mountaineers". The charm and curse of forums is that anyone can spout wisdom - even me nasmeh.
But fools get bored fastest if ignored. 100% proven. Otherwise - live and let live.

right thing if someone asks if gloves are needed for Triglav ascent in January. No need to get angry at such a one and insult him. Nowhere does it say you have to answer such a question.velik nasmeh

Guys, why are you arguing?
Let's be patient with each other, that's the only way to keep the website in good condition.

Young "goats" sometimes really overdo it, but that will pass and they'll settle in. For inappropriate and rude comments, there's deletion.

And if some have really left the website for good, they're doing the biggest harm to themselves. Knowledge that you don't share with others is dead knowledge. Isn't it a shame?

Let's be happy that we can go to the mountains and enjoy their beauties. Many, too many are deprived of all that, but heartily wish they had the chance.

Weekend ahead, spend it nicely, wherever you're going.

The very existence of this thread clearly shows that the picture of our society's state has projected into the mountains too... It's not reflected only here, but also in the mountains themselves. In the past, it was said that only happy, honest people went to the mountains... Today that's no longer true.. A whole lot of competitiveness, hostile attitudes and negative emotions, where it's least needed... Some will still walk known paths, pilgrimage in columns to the peaks, others will just for that seek less visited trails and entrances... Good luck to all up there!

In good and bad weather...we seek beauty and peace in the mountains.nasmeh Better go to Tolsta Košuta to watch the moon fatten or to Kras to watch the wild boar roasting!

I'm saddened by your impatient writings. Everything is given to you, everything is within reach, enjoy and share it with us. It's not said it will always be so. Maybe a time will come when you want to write something, but you won't have anything to write about, a time when you might regret not doing it when you could.

I climbed the mountain of my life on Oncology. For months I longed to be able to walk on the flat, I couldn't even dream of steep.
Years passed before I could put on hiking boots again and climb the nearby mountain. Some would call it a molehill.
And that's why today I'm so proud of myself and every mountain path walked, every ascent. Too many I've met have departed without ever stepping again on the green meadows they longed for.

Rejoice that you are here and now. Forget quarrels and grudges, share all good with us and it will be better for all.
