@miri, thanks for the kindness and your time. The question remains if any hawthorn species is protected here.

Irina, I think hawthorn is not protected, I've checked quite a few lists of protected plants in Slovenia and it's not on any. Even this list that turbo presented doesn't contain hawthorn. Maybe I missed something, but that's my finding. Miri, very useful contribution about hawthorn you forwarded, I'd just point out that botanists claim it's correctly ENOVRATI hawthorn and not enovratni, as the author states. And now some green plants from the recent hike to Mirna gora... lp

On yesterday's hike to Pečovnik hut and Grmada near Celje I even found some little flowers, including real spring flowers that the last November warming brought up. Fog persistently prevented the sun from shining even a little on these hills all day. Still, the hike was pleasant. lp

There's still something colorful to be found in nature.

Thanks, Zlatica. According to the weather forecast we'll have to say goodbye to the flowers for a while.

Dear ones, you're good and thanks for almost the last flowering flowers of this year, seed heads, fruits.... Do you think, Zlatica, that Franci walked around Kras? Maybe. What if it's just "thistle"?

Apolonija, of course it could be thistle or something else, I just wanted to say what it reminds me of. But I'm not sure, as this flower wilts quite quickly and I've never seen it dry in real life, so I don't know how it looks dry; it's much softer structure than thistle and probably disappears from the surface by autumn...Nevertheless it can be seen dry on this side, for those interested.. http://luirig.altervista.org/flora/taxa/index1.php?scientific-name=jurinea+mollis

Zlatica as far as I remember back I think it's the right one, or maybe not. The photo was taken under Šmarna gora

Zlatica, that dry flower similar to thistle I photographed again, where it's more precisely visible.

Zlatica, thanks and also to the others for confirming that my effort wasn't in vain. Not all flowers bloom right along the path and sometimes you need to take a step aside.

Otiv=St. Nicholas brought us flowers. All shots are beautiful as always. The dog's tooth especially surprised me. Where did you find it? Franci you really made an effort, first you delighted us with cowslips, then you took time and photographed that thorny plant again.
