Who else would know and help like Apolonija. Heartfelt thanks!! Just in passing, is there something similar with the pot-bellied bellflower or is there only one. Let it smell a bit more...

Photo no. 11 shows the pot-bellied bellflower and its leaves as described in Hoppe's guide. So photos no. 1 and 2 are pot-bellied bellflower and also from 10 to 19 are all pot-bellied. Interesting that we somehow don't find scree ones. The last yellow one is common wall lettuce - belongs to chicory family - Mycelis muralis.

Brane; thanks for your reply. But the hogweed was photographed on the descent from Durc (1400 m) and in a very sunny spot. Just for clarification; best regards!

I've eaten young hogweed many times with regular salad, but hogweed needs to be complemented with boiled potatoes, same as forest garlic-mustard, so-called forest salad, recommend blanching lightly first! nice day

I reviewed hogweeds two years ago and found out that four hogweeds grow in Slovenia. Generally widespread and most common is of course the common hogweed, which appears in eight subspecies. I noted only their Latin names and didn't research further. Our hogweed therefore has this Latin name-Heracleum sphondylium. We can hardly miss it. Furthermore the giant hogweed from the Caucasus has established itself in our nature. It was supposedly brought to the Botanical Garden in Ljubljana from where it escaped into nature. Its name-Heracleum mantegazzianum. It reaches up to two meters in height. It is very dangerous. Its sap causes burns on the skin. Very hard to eradicate it. The third hogweed is the ornament of our mountains-rose-red or Austrian hogweed. Authors of the botanical trail Črne prsti even call it Bohinj hogweed-Heracleum austriacum ssp.siifolium. Its cousin is Pollini's hogweed-Heracleum sphondylium ssp. pollianom. This hogweed doesn't grow in lowlands -on the botanical trail Črne prsti it is marked. Its leaves are larger than the common one and greener. The stem is also larger.

Brane, I like that you developed the debate on hogweeds. The common hogweed (Heracleum sphondylium) has more subspecies, as you say. One is the one you mention as Pollini's hogweed (Heracleum sphondylium ssp. pollianom). Easier to remember the name - scree hogweed. The other subspecies is mountain hogweed (Heracleum sphondylium subsp. montanum). By mistake (lapsus) I, Kati, wrote alpine instead of mountain. This subspecies of the common has fewer leaf segments. http://galerija.foto-narava.com/slika/44110

Now everything is clear to me about hogweeds.

@zlatica, super. Did you have to go right to the top for all the shown flowers?

Yes, Otiv, via Slovenian ridge, via Italian valley, as always. But it has become hard for me already, especially this year when I'm quite out of condition, up still goes, down harder , but adrenaline does its thing and so I managed. Maybe something interesting, that this year I found the most neboglasnice so far, although there are much fewer flowers.

Majda, thanks. I'm really grateful for this experience, of which there were very few this year. Apolonija, if someone wants something so much, the wish will surely come true. I'm still looking for the blue mile, haha
