Description of mountain:
Snežnik, or Veliki Snežnik, at 1796 metres is the highest peak in the near and far surroundings, offering a beautiful view over a large part of Slovenia and neighbouring Croatia. In good weather the highest peaks of Gorski Kotar and Istria are visible, with Risnjak, Snježnik and Učka standing out. On the Slovenian side, across the vast forests of Notranjska, the highest peaks of the Julian Alps, Kamnik-Savinja Alps and Karavanks can also be seen.
Just a few metres below the summit is the Draga Karolina shelter on Veliki Snežnik.
