Veliki Snežnik

Description of mountain:
Veliki Snežnik, at 1796 meters, is the highest peak in the nearby and distant surroundings, offering beautiful views over much of Slovenia and neighboring Croatia. In good weather, the highest peaks of Gorski Kotar and Istria are visible, notably Risnjak, Snježnik, and Učka. Across the vast Notranjska forests on the Slovenian side, the highest peaks of the Julian Alps, Kamnik-Savinja Alps, and Karavanke can also be seen.
Just a few meters below the summit stands the Draga Karolina Shelter on Veliki Snežnik.
