The nearest mountain hut is Gießener Hütte, located 3km north-northeast. Closer is bivouac Kaponig-Biwak, which is located 1.3km to the northwest. 5 km north from the saddle there is glacier Trippkees, 5 km north from the saddle there is also glacier Winkelkees. The saddle is located above the valley Kaponigtal.
