Nördlicher Fernaukogel is 2920 meter high peak and is part of the Stubai Alps. The peak is located 11 km east-northeast from the center of Zwieselstein and 11 km east-northeast from the center of Sölden. The nearest mountain hut is Dresdner Hütte, located 1.4km northwest. Winterraum is a bit further away. 0.8 km southeast of the peak there is lake Sulzenausee. 1.6 km southwest from the summit there is glacier Fernauferner, 1.9 km southeast from the summit there is also glacier Fernerstube. South-southwest of the summit is the valley Windachtal.
