Rothorn is 2648 meter high peak and is part of the Rieserferner Group. The peak is located 9 km northeast from the center of Antholz Obertal - Anterselva di Sopra and 10 km west-northwest from the center of St. Jakob and 2 km east of peak Rosshorn. The nearest mountain hut is Alpengasthaus Oberhaus, located 1.5km northeast.
