GITA - Recent messages

Not really mountains, but maybe useful for someone to stretch their legs on vacation... This was pretty much the highlight of our good ten-day road trip through Bosnia and Herzegovina in the second half of June. We both agreed that we hadn't seen anything so beautiful in a really long time...

To conclude our this year's "balkanijada" - wanderings through Macedonia and Albania, we also turned to Prokletije and in the Albanian Alps did a beautiful valley-to-valley trekking from Valbona to Theth. (11.-12.7.2017).

Passed by on Monday, 11.11. and it was really open. We stopped briefly, very friendly, food tasty too.

Ločanka, gladly, but really it's been so long since I posted anything here that I fumbled a bit with pics...

Yesterday (11.1.) winter fairy tale on Vršič. Convinced everything already walked and tracked long and cross, left snowshoes home carefree. Mistake! Did penance. From Koča na Gozdu first bit back on road then on trodden path to Erjavčeva koča. On road to pass and to Vršič top. To Tičarjeva koča track, there three fooling around, ahead fun. First comfy on still faintly visible old track, from Poštarski dom almost to top sinking in brush khm… to rear and more. Old road to Tonkina koča no track, just ski trace left untouched, but didn't help much as "afternooners" met on return used it well. Seemed easier and comfier straight through powder where possible across brush and forest like on skis. Gorgeous day!

Domžale hut is open from Wednesday to Sunday, at least that's what it says on the PD Domžale website.

@skala123, nice photos. We met when we were already descending. For us it was the second visit to this really wonderfully panoramic peak, and we noted that the path is steeper than almost thirteen years ago .

Nice photo report! Just small note: signs on photo 34 refer to "Juliana Trail" path, which in October 2020 got 4 new stages...

Congratulations to both for the ascent, and to you Nejc thanks also for the nice and interesting "photo report"!

The clip that @turbo suggested for viewing is super, nicely made and directed... mainly good as a terrain depiction along which the ascent goes.

Hi Drago, where did you see the notice about until when the road will be closed? We're planning to go up sometime in early November, and if we can, we'd rather catch a nice day during the week than on the weekend...
