T 24 means completing 10 Tržič peaks in one day.
In 1999 the first competition was organized. At the start there was only a handful of competitors. All 10 peaks had to be conquered, but using only marked paths was not a requirement. The time limit was 24 hours. Everyone chose their own shortcuts, and each participant had to handle their own food and drink logistics.
Start and finish in Tržič. From Tržič to Dobrča, Begunjščica, Vrtača, Košutica, Veliki vrh, Kladivo, Košutnikov turn, Stegovnik, Storžič, Tolsti vrh, Tržič.
Divided into 3/3. 1/3 Tržič-Ljubelj, 2/3 Ljubelj-Dolga njiva, 3/3 Dolga njiva-Tržič.
The route hasn't been officially measured yet. It's estimated at 75-80km and approx 5500m total ascent.
In 2001 the competition was organized for the last time. Aleš Rozman won with 15h 13min. This phenomenal record still stands today.

Klemen Triler, an excellent mountain runner and ski tourer, also competed in this event. His best time was 17h 52min.
He wanted to hike or run this route again someday.
He decided to repeat it on Saturday 09.10 and invited me along, knowing I wanted to "process" this route as I'd asked him several times about shortcuts.

We started at 03:04 in Tržič and after 17 hours and 47 minutes finished the wild and magnificent route.

Thanks to Uroš Feldin who brought us macaroni at Ljubelj and accompanied us to Košutica.
Thanks to Klemen's wife and daughters who brought food and drink to Dolge njive.
And to Luka Mihelič who accompanied us on the last third of the route.
Most grateful to Klemen for taking me along.

He's convinced he could improve the record without much trouble, and I can confirm that. He's really excellent.

Best regards Jure - Cveto

REDBULL!
I read this whole thread and had a good laugh. Didn't plan to comment.
But this last comment of yours really pissed me off!

"Otherwise runners like Triler, zupancic... are only interested in records on such challenges, don't close your eyes."

"Runners know each other, so there should definitely be more."

How can you say something like that. Obviously you don't know either one personally.
I know Klemen very well, Klešman less, but everyone knows who and what he is anyway! How can you judge someone you don't even know! And lumping them in the same basket at all. These two are complete opposites in character.

And I don't understand at all how you, whom most trail runners don't know personally except through your writing (not to say otherwise), can write like that.

I'd ask you once more, which group or "basket" do you put yourself in??? Think carefully.

No hard feelings. Still congrats again for Grintovci extreme, and safe in the mountains.

P.S. Klemen has plenty of recorded material. When he has time, he'll edit and make a little film. (some have more important things than hanging around and "writing" on the internet.

OK, I agree, you're right. Should have written that it should ALSO be posted on running forum.
I wrote this tour here myself.
Nice greeting no hard feelings.

Anyway redbull, don't know why you don't post this on running forum. Here more hikers, there ultra runners, mountain runners... They are more interested in such things.

Best.

Nice greeting!

Redbull and all others planning to tackle this route.
Since I devised the route myself and thus kind of "charted" it, I think there should be some rules. I know I should have written them right after completing the route, as my friends told me. However...
Therefore, everyone who takes on this extreme challenge must also complete it on this exact path. Only then does it count as having completed the GRINTOVCI EXTREM route. Otherwise it is something else.
I decided to write this because I talked with some people who asked me how and what about it. As we know, there are quite a few similar challenges here. For example T10 or Tržiških 10. There the rules are different: all 10 peaks in the shortest possible time. Which path does not matter, even off-trail is allowed. When Klemen Triler (excellent expert on this route) and I did this route a few years ago, we covered quite a bit of it off-trail. Questions were also whether it could be done in the opposite direction, whether only these 14 two-thousanders need to be summited. Without Velika planina, Krvavec...
For Grintovci, the rules are:
-Route exclusively on
marked paths (exceptionally due to
possible snowfields).
-Start and finish at the parking lot at Kalcit.
-Route in the direction towards Velika
planina.
-Must take photos at start,
finish and all summits.
-At all these points must
also photograph the clock on which the
time is visible.
-At all summits must sign in the
logbook and note the time.
-Escorts are of course allowed but
they do not have to be at all summits.
(I didn't have any, except from Kalška gora
onwards).
-Poles are allowed.

Now then to the route and safe steps. The route is technically very demanding. Therefore, SAFETY first here! Then nothing for a while, only then speed.
For me this route was harder than T10, which is much more runnable. Here, in addition to physical fitness, huge mental fitness and concentration are needed.

I intend to place the logbook in the inn at Planinski orel. Whoever completes the route will sign it. Note time, impressions from the route...

PS. Dejan, I hope the weather favors you, no injuries.
From what I read about your trainings, I think you can go well under 20 hours. Yes, there is still quite some reserve. If you are a good mountain runner and fast on rock, then no problem to set an excellent time.

Best regards, Jure

nasmeh You guys are really funny. BUT today conditions to Kredarica were just great.
Although it was raining quite well in Ljubljana in the morning, it was clear in Krma. Walking excellent, snow rather little. approx 30 - 40 cm. On Kalvarija it was a bit windy. Here and there fog came up, otherwise high clouds.

On Sunday I plan to do a long training. If someone is really going to Grintavec on Saturday, I would kindly ask for some photos from the path. I'm particularly interested in how the steps are made, if they exist at all. If possible, I would ask for photos of the path: The steepest part before the saddle, on the "ram's ridge" and at the rock, before the roof.

Thank you very much in advance

pikec1, about 2 years less no. But you know well how much I trained back then. So I could hardly say I've been in it that long. Here and there I came to a race. That was it. I went to the mountains a lot. A bit faster pace.
Now I'm here just as I am mežikanje

Thanks Vencelj!
All this is part of training for UTMB and TDG.

Petruša, No problem when it's frozen. You have crampons in the shoe, so minimal slipping. We're not completely without anything. Šavs has a small backpack, a t-shirt to change and half a liter of isotonic. I have only kidney belt, just as much power as Ivan, one sweatshirt, windbreaker tied to the belt. That's it.
And to avoid misunderstanding, we also hike safely. What helps if you have perfect gear with you but don't know how to use it.
Well good luck next weekend.

ugn, Some can do it naturally, we work a bit on it. But I have to admit, only since mid-December I'm training a lot. You have to upgrade talent a lot if you want to accomplish what I set myself.
But even if you don't have it in you, with diligent training and will you too will get under two hours up.

Nice greetings.

Today I had the honor again to hike with Ivan Šavs. Šavs has thus today finished his hikes to Kredarica.
"Let everything somehow end on three"
That's how Ivan started two days before Christmas. Until today he has done 33 ascents to Kredarica. He did the ascents in 3 months, 3 days in a row he was also on Triglav.
For the end we went today after the tour to the Psnack inn each for 3 pancakes.
Today was really a nice day. Already yesterday we agreed not to rush. We also started an hour later than usual. The hike was touristy (conversational). But still we hiked up in only 2h 10min.
During his hikes, I went with him about 5x and never regretted it.
The guy really knows how to enjoy!
He never worries about time.
Except once we said, come on let's race to see in how much time we can go up and down. Then we tried harder.
When sometimes we overtake some "mountaineers" with huge backpacks front and back, and you hear words like: "look at those crazies, they don't even know how to hike in mountains", "those really don't know how to enjoy, the beauty of mountains"
Then you wonder. Who is enjoying? The one going up lightly, full of life and good mood, or the one dragging up the whole "shift" with a huge backpack full of drinks and food, all red in the face, struggling, damn, why does he need this mežikanje
But it's nice to hear when others give you some encouraging word, or at least politely greet back.

I've also finished with Kredarica for a while. Of course I'll wander elsewhere in the mountains, hope for some tour again with Ivan Šavs.

A pair of glasses is hanging inside. Yesterday I asked.
cveto6. 02. 2011 13:41:14
Also today, same as yesterday. Excellent conditions to Kredarica. I don't know how it is now when the sun has risen, probably snow already soft. In the morning when we went up with Šavs, it was still frozen. So up and down flew. Car left 300m beyond Kovinarska hut. Back in 2:45.
People, today and yesterday quite a crowd, even on Triglav.

Oops, thanks ploha. Already corrected.
Sk2, This morning my friend and I got to Kredarica early and saw five hikers heading to Triglav, probably you were among them. nasmeh
Congratulations on the ascent.
Frenk 45. Apparently 20 people stayed overnight from Saturday to Sunday.

As promised, a bit more detailed description of yesterday's tour to Triglav.
Around half past eight in the morning my friend and I started from Krma - Kovinarska koča. By car you can go to the end of the clearing.
We decided to go to Kredarica, if conditions favorable, then also to Triglav.
Path to Kredarica is distinct, trodden. In places so trodden like walking on stairscool
Snow is hard, frozen, so nice to walk.
Before Kredarica we hear that some group is going to the top.
At Kredarica they chickened out because of fog.

Friendly meteorologists tell us that no one has been on Triglav for several days, but conditions good, since no snow from last visitors, and it's consolidated, no avalanche danger.

So we decide and go to check,
Path really super. Snow hard so crampons grip well.
Fog also drops enough that we have nice view on top. We take some pics, then back to Kredarica and on to Krma, reach it just as it gets dark.

Whole tour took just over 10 hours. We each had one ice axe, for more safety recommend two.

Nice greeting!
Today my friend and I were at the top.
Conditions super, although apparently no one has been up there for several days before us.
Snow just frozen enough that crampons grip excellently.
A bit foggy, but the fog cleared at the right moments.

Best, Jure - Cveto
