Over Planika can avoid all snowfields (except Kurica), over Kredarica hard snow at entry to Mali Triglav where crampons and ice axe needed. Ridge bare.

Tadej, I was there. Šentanski plaz was nicely frozen in the morning and quick to ascend. Turned into Lenuhova gully and back via the descent route.

The snow is mushy and crampons would come into play only beyond the ridge and onwards to the summit, where the later-fallen snow is closer to icy base. On the path at every step it feels like walking on sand . I used small crampons on the descent from the top. Definitely winter-appropriate gear is recommended.

Today, 6. 2., I was on Viševnik from Rudno polje. The path is mostly trodden down. If you step off the 'path' the crust breaks somewhere to mid-calf.

Conditions today, 9. 9. 2018? Slovenska grapa still has snowfield bypassable on right, across glacier no issues, NW ridge steep and no crowds. Actually no one to Triglav top except 4 ibex and us. Triglav top = crowd. Parking in Vrata full to last spot. From Kredarica to Triglav top queues. Descent via Prag no issues .

I agree with the previous statements about sweating. It's just the body's natural response necessary to cool down during exertion. @serajko the most versatile and most reliable material is merino wool. Why? Because of its thermoregulatory properties, its antibacterial properties and all other advantages that other materials hardly achieve. Merino shirts are expensive and one wonders if it's worth paying 50+ EUR for an under, short or long shirt. My opinion? For me yes and for at least 4 years I don't use other materials. Whether it's a summer shirt for the city or a winter shirt for the mountains. Merino wool warms you when it's cold outside, cools in summer, doesn't stink and very importantly, even when wet it retains all these properties.

@jprim if it changed since this August, then you're right, I don't know which path we're talking about.

@jprim I don't understand why this path wouldn't be suitable or why parents should be concerned about carrying out a mountaineering sports day? I know the path well and the cable or steep ascent, as you describe it, is a pleasant challenge for children and not something stressful, as we adults see it too often. The sections are short and well secured. Of course I agree that there's always a chance of an accident, but it can happen with ball games, cycling or any other physical activity. If children are prepared in advance for the activity, it can be one of the nicer sports days.

@jprim the comment I am writing is completely well-intentioned. Today's children are too inactive and the reason for tiredness was not the difficulty of the excursion, but laziness, which is a problem of today's society. Donačka gora is fully suitable destination for children from 1st to 3rd grade. My son at three years old walked the path independently from Rudijev dom to the summit and back and I see no reason why children at 6 (and older) couldn't manage this path.

Before the announced snowfall, a quick trip to Triglav. Vrata - Slovenska - Prevčev exit. In the Wall except for a frozen snow patch in Slovenska grapa which can be bypassed on the right, no peculiarities. Exit to the glacier and ascent via the route that Marjana and Marko named "Ob severnem grebenu na ledenik" to the top of Triglav. Sunny, warm and pleasant . Descent to Kredarica and via Tominškova back to Vrata.

The Žirovnica path to Stol is dry and normally 'passable'.

@Naprosyn, given the high temperatures snow melts very quickly even in shady spots. It was raining on Vršič and I think the snow cover is rapidly decreasing. Definitely didn't clear it completely this week though. As for winter gear I can only say that great caution is needed in several places, but gear like crampons and ice axe don't play a big role. Snow is south-facing and you make steps yourself. It sinks past the ankles, knees. At two spots where I dug out the rope that was deep under snow, due to drifts the snow was chest-high against the wall. Everyone should judge for themselves how they fare in such conditions.

@ursa2212 23.9. I made a track to Little Mojstrovka via Hanzova. As for snow on the route, there's more of it with altitude and quite a few traverses are quite unpleasant. Fixed ropes are under snow. I dug some out, but it's still quite delicate. Snow is south-facing and steps are often insecure, especially in the middle section. My opinion is to wait with Hanzova until lower temperatures if ice and snow are not a problem for you. From Little Mojstrovka to Velika there's a track laid. I suggest going classic (ridge) to Little and then to Velika.
