Beautiful sunny, holiday Sunday, perfect for rambling. Since obligations didn't allow a longer visit to the mountains, it came in handy also wandering along the former Rapallo border. A shorter hike (combined with drives) in the direction of Strane, Hruševje, Unška koliševka, Pivka discovered so far unknown to me (yet so close) impressive (unnecessary) creations of human hands. Pleasant, interesting and educational.

A beautiful sunny Saturday promised a lot and indeed at 17.00 the almost full moon appeared in the sky and tried to compete with the sun, which was already wearily falling from the celestial vault. At 19.00 when we buckled our backpacks, boots,… at Sviščaki, lady moon was already ruling the sky in full shine, in the background shyly twinkling stars.
In the hut on Sviščaki, extended tea, then off on the path.
The blessed night, the moon with silver dusting, made even more serene. Unusual peace occasionally interrupted by trees stretching in the frost and the quiet, quiet singing of the south wind.
Magical path illuminated by lady moon to the saddle below the summit where the south wind sang a bit louder and invited snow from the drifts to dance, us on the top with duty members of GRS in their shelter for excellent mushroom soup and pasta with mushrooms. After such a feast the path to the valley was just a trifle—a small one.
The trip one of those for the list of unforgettable.

No Hribovc88 we didn't meet anyone, probably because they were smart in the warm shelter.

Full moon on Friday invited us to Snežnik and since one should respond to the invitation, we went! At 20.00 we were at Sviščaki, where we wisely concluded that there was no big crowd. Actually it was pretty empty. The moon greeted us at the parking lot and promised us a pleasant night walk. But the mischievous moon soon played tricks on us, as we realized that obviously nobody had been to Snežnik for a couple of days, which means we were breaking trail in the fresh snow right after stepping from the "civilization" of Sviščaki into the forest (of course without snowshoes, because after the "wise" consultation at the parking lot we concluded that we wouldn't need them anyway - MISTAKE!!!). It sank 20 to 50 cm and soon we saw that mischievous grin on the moon's surface - got you. Luckily the wind at least spared us to the "kapitanova koča". From there on it just increased its strength and then the moon sulked and hid behind a veil of clouds. Obviously we no longer interested it. From "drv" through the scrub it sank a little less, the wind at least helped us a bit and froze or hardened the snow. To "skalce" it was still quite clear, from there on darkness as if there was no moon at all. Fog, wind - always stronger, snow pellets on the face like in beauty salons and as a reward the closed hut. Luckily there was a thermos of mulled wine and tea in the backpack, so we warmed up a bit and full of hope for an easy return turned around and at 23.30 showed our back to Snežnik. But the wind quickly blew away that thought of an easy return. On the way back we were breaking trail again as if we hadn't gone up at all since auntie burja had diligently swept away our tracks. But we didn't give up and successfully fought our way back to the car, which frozen waited for us where we had left it. Conclusion: the next full moon will be more perfect with frozen snow that won't sink (or with snowshoes on our feet) and with wind that will be asleep and with a hutkeeper who won't be asleep. Well, we wish him sleep, because for our yesterday's quartet it really wouldn't make sense to heat the hut. And let someone else say that the moon doesn't give meaning to the day (it fully meaningfulized ours yesterday).

Well, Frenk45, I'll tell about our "expedition". Since we didn't exactly know what to expect, I wouldn't talk about time, because we quite "searched". All together it lasted from 11.00 start in Koper to 19.00 arrival in Koper. Of course we drove by car to Stran - village below Nanos. There we left the car and by the memory of a colleague, who saw the bunkers from the plane with which he was flying around there, we started searching where they should be. At that, shepherds (electric), which are full around there, hindered us. Well, from the village we went on the path towards Nanos and after cca. 200-300 meters behind the object of water intake (or something similar) turned right through the forest and over bzzzz bzzz electric shepherd and also over barbed wire continued straight uphill. On the smaller plateau you'll immediately notice the pile from the first photo. The entrance is almost under the top of the bunker and it is closed with "wooden doors", which are not locked. Maybe the most interesting bunker is in Unška koliševka. To there you get by turning right in Uncu at pizzeria Portus (if coming from AC) and continue on that road as long as it ascends, when the road (of course forest road - gravel) levels, you'll run into a concrete wall more visible on the right side and from that wall continue to the first branch where you turn right (down) and drive or walk to the sign that marks and explains Unška koliševka. Left of the sign a bit you have to descend the slope, there is the entrance to the bunkers (they have three or four other exits, one ends in a precipice - but it is nicely visible and there is no danger if you just look ahead). For easier access ask locals for Unška koliševka (because for bunkers they don't know well - at least those we ran into). One of the largest bunkers is on Primož above Pivka. Leave the car at the parking before the underpass under the railway (direction center - Ilirska Bistrica). And from there you have cca. 1/2 hour walk on the marked path to the bunker, which is unfortunately (or luckily) locked. For viewing arrange in the military museum in Pivka. Along the path Strane - Hruševje - Planina - Pivka there are still quite a few smaller bunkers with one or two rooms, which are mostly in very bad condition. Aja, in Hruševje turn towards guesthouse Milena and continue in the direction of Orehka. When on the right you'll see the hunters' hut (right by the road and not far from the guesthouse) stop and park and if in front of the entrance to the hunters' hut you turn so that the doors show your back, you look straight into the bunker! Which is actually entirely dug into the hill. Straight from the entrance to the hunters' hut walk towards the hill and surely you'll see and find the entrance to the bunker, which is not terribly large nor small. Well, Frenk45, I hope I helped you some. Anyway, you know with good will everything can be done - also finding bunkers and entrances. Anyway, you'll find quite some data on the net if you type rapalska meja, alpski zid, rupnikova linija,... Good luck.

Yes, Nacek, you're right, the trip is not recommended for claustrophobes. Safe!? Well, fairly. Into parts that didn't seem safe enough we didn't enter, the rest by our judgment was safe enough for viewing. Of course, the safety assessment is a personal view of the given situation.

Snežnik? Not worthy of its name for this season. Sample snow and trouble when feet slip. Better than Snežnik today would suit "Jauka mountain" - ouch ouch who all was up there today and how whiny. Hikers with snowshoes and hikers in sneakers - on same trail. Otherwise sun from Črni kal to top. NO snow at Sviščaki if someone planned skiing or sledding. Road path to top covered with icy patches with trampled snow. Ideal to land on butt. From "drv" on trampled snow on ice or rocks that slide, such fun that you need quite some caution and poles not superfluous when balancing. Hut closed! Top like summer! Total calm, sun, views so kitschy. Nice nice on top today. Down due to little snow almost best to "ski" on boots - skiing pose, hope no stone stops descent and lucky. Well to drv more caution from there just caution. End at Sviščaki and back to fog.

Karletto, Triglav is also logged but a colleague was before him (he wasn't combed) so I didn't post it, but here it is in today's report from Snežnik.

At the bottom sadness, at the top poetry for the eyes. From Razdrto via steep (left) path first 1/3 quite slippery, as it's quite muddy and thus slick. Higher up better, sun has dried the trail nicely. No wind, even less snow, plenty of sun rays. In sheltered spots summer is already felt. Back via gentle path to Hieronim BP, in the forest on steeper sections recommend careful steps, as fallen leaves quickly turn into a skating rink. Weather perfect for visiting Nanos especially for western Slo. residents covered in fog. Tomorrow again to some island rising from the sea of fog.

Let me throw in some "wise" words too. I used to be quite an active skier but the materialistic syndrome of ski resorts (and everything else) started to bug me and I hung up my skis and switched to cross-country or hiking.
Poetry. You go where your heart desires, as far as possible from the mad world and groomed trails... So touring skiers stay true to the essence of (touring) this activity and ski where those various supervisors can't chase you because they can't even get there anyway - no road to drive up in a warm car and play authority.

Well they've valued our nature movement and possible injuries. Three broken ribs - round THOUSAND (Majdič's Petra lucky law not adopted yet). Of course only treatment not intervention, rescue,...
Knee dislocation - 320 €(hospital), head injury few stitches local anesthesia 77 €,... just so you know how much you save each time nothing happens.
GUARD THE COUCH LIKE THE APPLE OF YOUR EYE!
