Proud as a church steeple stands Turn next to the Black Bird, from which it is separated by a notch. Access to it from Kanin plateaus is easy,
from it to the summit however one must overcome a short II.

With the ascent to Turn pod Črnim voglom on Tuesday, 22.9.2015, I concluded the "project of conquering Slovenian two-thousanders"
and on my list made the last,
412th tick.
I call it my own, because there are several lists of two-thousanders, criteria for compiling the list however are hard to define.
I helped myself with the broader list of Marjana and Marko (M&M), added some of them, above all however stuck to the rule to include peaks that are on maps, and peaks whose names appeared in other lists and various publications (e.g. Nomenclature of the Julian Alps).
During "conquering" it also showed that some do not belong on this list, others unfortunately suffer injustice because they have no name and measured height.
Ten years I mainly with friend Janez, who together with me
hiked most two-thousanders already a second time, visited to me until then unknown
peaks and ridges. Where I needed alpinist experience yet, my brother Drago was
with me.
Only on around 100 peaks is the path marked. On all others it is necessary to find the path
and sometimes more, other times less also to climb. Descriptions exist on the web (M&M..), of great help however are hunters' paths and chamois tracks. For all else
(will, fitness, perseverance..) however you must take care yourself.
Happy trails to repeaters.

Tone and "DVas", there is no need for any bitterness when talking about hills.Everyone has their own wishes and opinions, which is completely understandable to me.

But based on experience, I am of the opinion that it is easiest to compile the "right" list when you have most of the peaks already in your "legs".
Then it is also easiest to judge which one belongs on the list and which one does not. And again this is a subjective assessment.
At least for me prominence is not the most suitable criterion, because according to it many well-known peaks can fall out of the list.
For example, on one of the first lists of two-thousanders (254) there was no Široka peč!

Dvas, do you have it on your list of 284 two-thousanders? And Oltarček, Mali Prisank,Veliki kup, Rdeči kup...

Enjoy the hills and return home safely.

In my opinion there are still more than 284 of them.
But it all depends on the criterion you choose. There is no official one, at least as far as I know.
For me the name and the "official" height on maps, guides and the Nomenclature of the Julian Alps were important.

Once you've already done most of them, you see that many a "peak", even if it has an official name and height, doesn't deserve a place on the list. On the other hand, another one is wronged because it has no name and height.
A good 300 definitely deserve to be on the list. Of course, if you also use the criterion that to reach a named peak you had to make a real effort (e.g. Oltarček, Vrh Rokavskega grebena, Široka peč, Rdeči kup, Mali Prisank...) and you don't insist on prominence...

Maybe it was already mentioned, but I overlooked it.
Where can you leave the vehicle if you're going to Špik?

Me too, often outside the season some tour in Austria gets longer because I have to start from "below".
In Austria there are many "mountain" roads, even asphalted ones, closed in winter regardless of conditions and only those with permits can drive on them.
Austrians accept this more or less with understanding, we will have to get used to it.
Sadly!

I still have the same opinion,
that I wouldn't repeat Little Prisank anymore. Devil's Gully scared too much fear into my bones.
Congratulations for the courage.

Offer with prices on the "balcony Gesause" at the Grabneralm hut. The hut is always full of hikers, not only on weekends.....

We started the season with Drago on Hochturm.
And the higher we moved up Upper Styria, the more interesting the peaks became.
Admonter Reichenstein the most beautiful and Grimming the most powerful. Nice conclusion to this year's high mountain season.

Really a true mountain paradise. Tons of flowers, lots of
"locals" (chamois!) and few of us visitors
to the flowering meadows.
When the gentians also bloom, we'll go again
- to our nearest Styrian two-thousander.

Tadej, I'm glad you "opened" this topic.
It's about two lesser-known "points" on the eastern Kozjak,
both worth visiting in any season.
Not far from the scenic Kranjčeva pečina is the highest peak of eastern Kozjak (995m, no view), which officially has no name, but locals call it Kogl.

Tone, you have real 'beauties' ahead (Mali Prisank, Glava pod Planjo), except Goličica which is nothing special. But with your condition none of that will be a problem.
cenc30. 06. 2023 16:48:40
The timetable is adjusted for "tourists and kaveljci", which is ultimately understandable. Those "kaveljci" who can't get to the top and back in 11 hours will just have to plan a two-day trip. We're Styrians used to early starts anyway.
Some solution is there after all.

Trobec, to the valley after a good two hours we arrived almost at the end. Hunter's path, which is poorly visible at times, goes higher.

Polovnik traverse is really one of the very nice tours in our hills. Congrats. Like a true Drago, well planned return. We had issues on the return because from Krasji vrh we went to Zaprikaj alpine pasture instead of descending to Lovska koča, from where there's a nice path on the north side back
to Log Čezsoški.

Hello,
if you don't find a variant with two cars, I suggest you drive to Topla to the mine and park there.
From there go on the steep path straight to Knipsovo sedlo, from the saddle first walk left along the ridge to Veška kopa, return and continue right to Kordeževa glava. On this nice ridge path you "visit" all the two-thousanders.
From Kordeževa glava then via Mala Peca on the marked transverse path back to the car.

Tone, I also hope we do some joint
tour.
By the way, when the two-thousanders at home run out, there are soon across the border (Carnic Alps, Gailtal Alps or Nockberge) plenty of such ones on which you can almost "walk" like a gray scree guy....
Very suitable for more strongly gray-haired scree guys who can't handle the backpack with gear anymore.
