Hi.

Poll on the topic of mountaineering gear and veganism.

http://www.mojaanketa.si/anketa/302054392/

It's not a topic to convince anyone of anything, but just "additional" information mainly for those already convinced.

And no, it's not another topic about what suits whom to eat and what not, what's healthy and what's not, what someone lacks and who doesn't...

That's a circular tour. From Planjava you either return to Kamniško sedlo and then back to the valley. Or over Srebrno sedlo (pathless) to Kam. Bistrica.

I buy a new cheap Intersport/Decathlon bladder once a year or every two years, on which I replace the mouthpiece if it's not like this https://www.google.si/search?q=ustnik+meh&espv=2&biw=1777&bih=887&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjj5qyOisPMAhXC2hoKHSjgAkQQ_AUIBigB&dpr=0.9#tbm=isch&q=ustnik+BITE+&imgrc=hx_YB_ZgpFMMKM%3A

which you just squeeze and water flows.

After use, I rinse it, roll it up and put it in a box till next use.
Every half year, I wash it with baking soda and that's it.

There you can even ride a bike, so cables really not needed.

But we have to choose tours and paths suitable for ourselves.

Hard for me to write among tough guys, but I'll join hoping someone picks something smart from my post.

On Brana in winter conditions 1x with one "mountaineering" ice axe Revaltik Wizard and 1x with mountaineering ice axe R-W and ice tool BD Viper.

1. Conditions ideal for swinging axe. Anyway icy. Then I sometimes wished for another tool in hand. Feeling on pure ice just on crampons pulling ice axe pick from hard ground isn't pleasant. But made summit and back. Careful, focused, one step at a time.
Summit exit nice, unproblematic, a joke with one ice axe.

2. totally different conditions, unconsolidated snow somewhere, scoured to base somewhere, rope remains on ridge. To a certain point ok without ice axe. Summit or ridge exit annoying and problematic, quite annoying and hard with one ice axe. Harder descent.

How many ice axes for Brana?? >>>> depends on conditions!

More than the car, the driver's ability comes to the fore velik nasmeh

Sadly, some don't know how to drive such roads.

GregorC, so you answered lubadar that obviously in a mountain hut they also take care of vegans mežikanje

Guys and girls, you forget that (let's admit), mountain huts are also tourism and not just emergency shelter in the mountains.

Abroad they fight for every guest, here if you're a bit out of average, you're already "nobody needs".

Because mostly I'm terrorized by omnivores, why I don't eat meat, what nonsense I'm saying and starving, so in huts I don't ask anymore if they can offer me something, just to save a look from under the brow, due to misunderstanding and ultimately respect mežikanje
And I would leave quite a few euros in our huts, like this I don't.

And as said. Not looking for some culinary peaks at all. With basic ingredients just with a bit of good will, to satisfy a vegan too...

tol23. 08. 2015 18:06:01
You didn't answer. Would it be so hard to offer a bean salad? Too demanding?
tol23. 08. 2015 17:56:34
No. What does that have to do with my decision to go vegan?

If the hut isn't interested, fine. But given they can offer 20 different pancakes, couldn't they offer some vegan dish too? Like a bean salad with onion, oil and vinegar? Too demanding for a hut where those are basic ingredients?

capraibex now read the sentence from the first post in this thread.

So we're looking for huts that offer vegan food! No one demands that they must. Now tell me why you're griping in this thread then?

Since I know the situation in huts regarding vegan options, I bring all my food from the valley, even on multi-day trips or climbing camps.

@lubadar it's not whining, it's (mostly) personal choices based on principles and values we as individuals believe in. Whining is the capitalism we live in....

Look what you omnivores have done!!! They have to offer 20 different types of pancakes so your asses are full??? HELLO???zmeden

Sorry for the low level, but I can't take it anymore...
tol22. 08. 2015 09:14:55
Never right....bivouac yes or no. Minimalist, modern...?

in today's spirit, probably couldn't build Aljaž Tower on top of Triglav...too many bureaucratic hurdles, opinions...

tol14. 08. 2015 22:23:06
Herman8 - is it really necessary to stoop to that level?

Who's demanding? Us vegans?

You know - if they offered only vegan food, it would impact the mountain environment less?
A vegan doesn't need ričeta cooked - serve him beans and onion and a bit of vinegar, that's it... Who's demanding now?
Hiking buddies get strudel, pancakes,...

Offering vegan food is just removing some ingredient from regular dishes that's not needed and thus expanding who you can serve...I don't want anyone making vegan burek or something like that...

Anyway, personally as a vegan, huts are much less "necessary" for me than for others who eat everything....

tol13. 08. 2015 18:48:29
YES, boots are also made of artificial material. But that's another story or nightmare, how to get suitable gear for the mountains that matches your principles mežikanje
tol13. 08. 2015 18:16:03
In a hut at about 4000 m. Guests get a three (3) course dinner + dessert.

I'm chewing on 2-day-old pasta that I dragged from the valley.

And now I feel guilty if somewhere in our home mountains, in some hut, they could offer something vegan to eat....
