It seems to me they arranged this quite correctly.
We have good options (very affordable) for public transport to the mentioned frequent points: http://www.gore-ljudje.net/novosti/141532/. Just a bit more thinking when planning the tour is needed.cool
But if we want to be completely independent and drive with our own car as high as possible, even in TNP, it's right to pay a bit more for it.velik nasmeh

Wonderful pics, thanks a lot!nasmeh
I was there a few hours later and can confirm what you wrote. For all undecided add that I decorated path with some extra markers for easier orientation, so where you got stuck a bit (f. 25) no more dilemma.zadrega
Real proper autumn learning path - with all mushrooms and other forest fruits right on path and beside ...jezik

Or maybe from Litija past Šmartno to Bogenšperk and along Badjurova to Janče - if you're up for slightly longer wandering.mežikanje Down along the mentioned to Litija or nearest to Jevnica or maybe straight along Badjurova to Dolsko, where you can catch the train again. Maybe it grabs you so that later you do the remaining 2/3 of Badjurova path (total over 90 km). In any case this will be wandering with "ajzenponar" flair.jezik

Not that bad. We were up during holidays. Service was quite correct, tea with rum excellent and nicely served. They don't overdo friendliness, but not unfriendly either. People are different, right... zavijanje z očmi

Although these are not real mountains, in such weather as we have these last days, even visiting the hills of NE Slovenia is a real pleasure. The Svečinska path offers a lot, it is extremely scenic, walking or running on it is a real blessing, and it is excellently marked - thanks to the markers of PD Matica Maribor. Although not circular, you can get back to the starting point without trouble, easiest with a little help from locals in choosing the nearest path. Locals are very friendly, at every point with a stamp they offered me free drink, the lady at Repolusk under Plački vrh even honored me with a just baked divine krof miško.
The entire path covers about 45 km, very suitable also for running, as there aren't many long ascents.nasmeh

Here's my opinion from practice. I have 12-point semi-automatics, 8-point lightweight aluminum strap-ons (which also have forward-pointing front teeth) and ice traction "native" microspikes (http://www.kibuba.com/index.php?&cID=5&scID=36&pID=5140). They all perform well on their terrain. For winter tours in high mountains I always have 12-pointers (for comparison I tested 8-pointers in Turkish Gully (steep), but feel better on 12s - difference more noticeable on descent), 8-pointers I carry in spring and early summer when need to cross snow patches here and there (bought them because semi-automatics don't fit every boot and didn't want to walk in glacier boots in summer e.g. on Hanza to Prisank). Tested small spikes on same paths as Katty and they work great there. Bought them for walking and running on icy mid-mountain paths, because small and light, can have them always even in hip pouch and put on trail runners. Since they have Velcro safety strap on top, they don't come off if points get caught.
For those 6-pointers on previous page, I think they are safer than chain ones because can attach perfectly to boots (can't slip off), longer points reduce slip risk, but for high mountains (or steep terrain walking) still not suitable, because need front points for uphill.
One more. I think it's especially important for less experienced mountaineers to have terrain-suitable gear, very experienced manage with worse. To those who can't afford 12-point crampons and ice axe, I recommend joining a mountaineering club (if not members), do a tour with them to learn to use the mentioned gear, then borrow it for own tours from them. Our club lends gear free to members.

No train runs on weekends on the Celje-Velenje, Maribor-Dravograd-Koroška route.eek And just on weekends we go to the mountains the most.
It's a big pity that it's like that, since trains are very suitable for combination with a bike.zavijanje z očmi

"TejaB, are you planning to welcome the new year on Urška this year toozmeden I'm thinking of going up, if anyone's interested they can gladly join me."
No, this year I'll celebrate NYE on Gorenjska. To Urška I went from Slemen or from Ciganije (the junction with the road to Javor. In previous years the road further to Križan was too icy to drive, on foot it was OK.velik nasmeh To Križan on flat you warm up just right to look forward to the ascent ...velik nasmeh

I welcomed the new year on Uršlja Gora twice in a row. It's really nice up there, not too crowded, space for a table for everyone, all pleasant people in good spirits without drunkenness. Midnight is of course welcomed at the top by the cross with wonderful views all around ... Some even sleep up there (those couple of hours), winter morning in the mountains is the most beautiful ... Hope you get someone for the hike Anja, you won't be bored up there anyway.nasmeh

Thanks, Maja, for this info. Good to know.
VanSims, you don't call the doctor for every scratch, do you? Considering how many I've gotten since distant childhood, I'm surprised I'm still alive with this paranoia.jezik
