Soon I have a guided trip from Postojna to St. Trinity and further to Pivka. Although going on a scouting tour, I'm interested in how the path is marked.

Both paths are extremely scenic. SPP runs almost entirely through panoramic terrain, the path through the Reka gorge a bit less, but I think it's more scenic than SPP - you see more of nature's forces at work... If you choose SPP you'll have to hike one section twice, namely below the village Gradišče there's a branch for Divača direction and you'll have to return from Škocjan Caves to that junction to continue to Divača. If you choose the path through the Reka gorge, you never go twice over the same section... Nice to hike both paths, especially in spring... Happy hiking!

In Pivka you climb to Osojnica (half hour), continue to Vremščica (three hours) and then along SPP or Reka river gorge to Škocjan Caves (in both cases between three and four hours) and then to Divača (one and a half hours). The path is well marked throughout and suitable for everyone. A bit more demanding is the part in Reka gorge, but it's also extremely beautiful... and not too hard. There about 35m of cables along the wall and flat and approx 50m elevation stairs (careful when wet!)...

Mavhar thanks, I believe. Now it's walked on top, but let's wait some more time...

I'm interested in how the path from Grohot via Durce is. As I know, last year new trail was made and on it two little bridges. Would like to know if they still stand, because without them especially in wet conditions crossing the gullies is extremely dangerous. Why didn't they route the path in switchbacks a bit higher and then along the clearing left past the pit? Trail would be much better without bridges, steps and cuts through scree, if they wanted (I assume!) to avoid falling rocks...

Bravo Igor! I didn't write before that the path is also excellently marked! But of course it is true that from behind the warm stove such winter ascents can be planned. But I also think that the Koritnica valley is one of the loneliest and wildest areas of the Julians - even in summer, not to mention now!

From Sežana to Vremščica is a bit long. That he'd go on such a "pilgrimage" I almost don't believe. Well maybe that hiker is just from Sežana?

The mountain path Mangart - Jalovec is strenuous and demanding! It is true that it leads through exposed places, but for the average mountaineer at "critical" points it is quite well equipped with safety devices. There are quite a few steel cables on steep grass otherwise the path is routed and marked also directly to bivouac Tarvisio (along the former border and very demanding!) and past it to the scree below, where it joins the path that is routed along the slope (steep grass) and to the fork at Kotovo sedlo. From here to Kotovo sedlo it is still a whole hour and a half ascent (the path is well secured!) and then to Jalovec more than two and a half hours. Further on the safety devices are okay, but it is exposed! Very beautiful mountain path!

Bravo Igor! Really, anyone seeking trouble and setting off from Kluž to Rombon at this time would be very foolish. The post on Miri's picture is next to the upper fortress in Klužah, junction to point 1313 - arrow though I didn't notice... Maybe I overlooked it, perhaps also at junction placed post with arrow?
S5621. 01. 2011 10:39:57
As far as I know, the access to point 1313 is very poorly marked, or not at all! Why isn't this fixed? On Rombon in snow it's not right to walk alone (abysses, pits), especially on the path from Kluž...

For some it's great luck that there's not much snow and so they do "a lot of good" for themselves, and drive "to the pines" right with the car. You can see that on one of the photos. Well nothing bad - photos are good and it wasn't too cold! Bravo Velesa!

Really surprised by such conditions at this time on Snežnik. Given that quite some snow fell a while ago I would expect it to stay. Well today it will "add" some more...
