Little fresh snow (10-15 cm) no issues, crust on most of the path holds a normal person's weight and sinking minimal. Fresh snow ideal for ski touring, weather from 9am on bomb (except gusts at Kredarica). Pleasure of night walk, sunrise and cold beer at Kredarica indescribable...

A little something from Sunday's Ratitovec

A few snapshots from Sunday's hike Lokavec - Kucelj on Čavnu, which I captured on my mobile. First time in these parts and definitely coming back for a shorter walk.

I have an HTC, but the camera is not exactly the strong suit of these phones. As soon as there is too much or too little light, mine completely fails... but my colleague's Samsung Omnio HD gets quite solid pics...

A couple more Saturday glimpses from my side (shot with mobile).

This Saturday my colleague and I at last moment decided to finally go to mountain (high mountain plans fell through during week due to weather). Chose shorter, lower tour and decision fell on Ratitovec via path from Zali Log (Path description). No major peculiarities on path but ground in shady spots nicely frozen, on afternoon descent unpleasantly slippery in places due to wet snow on ice and lower also muddy leafy ground.

Path section from Žagarjev hlev to road was untrodden and we enjoyed untouched winter fairy tale (recommend gaiters, for stabler step above 1100m also mini crampons). Sky opened only above 1350m and path worth longer drive from Dolenjska ends. In hut boss confirmed hut open every weekend regardless weather. Nice but less popular path (given surprising crowd at hut). Recommend.
