Because insomnia drove me away yesterday, my report is only today:

Since the weather forecasts for this weekend were great, my colleague and I set off for Jalovec.

Start on Saturday evening at 10 pm from Planica through Ozebnik to Jalovec (our plan was sunrise).
After less than an hour of walking from the Tamar hut, we put on crampons and took ice axes and headed on the snow towards Ozebnik. Snow compact and firm but caution needed due to falling rocks. At the top of Ozebnik short break then along marked path towards summit. On this section snow present in 2 parts on the ridge which we scramble with help of ice axes. Reached summit at exactly 4 a.m. but cold chased us off before sunrise. Back towards Tamar along marked path through Kotovo sedlo. In this part snow in 3 gullies where without ice axe and crampons not possible (as Igor said). Descent of gully from Kotovo sedlo already a bit tricky in morning hours as first sun rays softened snow well. Further along marked path to Tamar and Planica.

@CarpeDiem247, I search and search on the phone but somehow can't find better resolution pics. The problem is I forgot the camera at home.. so that's what I have.

Today on Stenar.. with a buddy we started from Vrata and then towards Stenarska vratca. The scree under the vratca is still quite covered although the snow is melting fast (winter gear recommended). From Stenarska vratca towards the summit we took our own pathless route (directly to Stenar along the ridge of its north wall) ridge nice 2., then along the marked path to the valley.

hi.. just wondering how's the road to Valvazor hut, I assume no more snow on the road? or am I wrong?

As far as I know Viki Grošelj also organizes treks to Mt. Everest 2x a year (spring, autumn).
Otherwise this trek is in the framework of filming documentaries with RTV, and at the same time they take (bring) some "tourists" with them

congratulations.. I was up in September and it was unique and I hope I manage too in some years to step in winter on "king of tamar"..

Yeah, I was with buddy to the top on Saturday from Vrata.. wasn't much crowd up there... on top maybe whole 8 guys... otherwise when we went down to valley we met some 30 hikers otherwise no crowd..

We were up there with mates last week so the path is still ok.. only thing you gotta know is don't leave the car in front of Valvasorjev dom.. so leave it at some parking before.. otherwise there really is a ramp at the start of the path (when you turn to Valvasorjev dom) it was open when we went up and down...

hi... it interests me like the predecessor (a couple of posts back) what the conditions of the path from Vrata (Tominšek path) are.. if by chance someone was up there over the weekend thanks for the answer

aha.. so up to staničeva no problem.. from staničeva onwards nicely with crampons then it'll go.. weather should be ok as i can see.. so thx i'll upload some pic later.. LP!!

Hi.. I'm curious what the path through KOT is like now.. we plan to go next week Sunday meaning 10th of course if weather allows.. and wonder more or less how much snow on path to Kredarica? as first time to Kredarica this time of year...
