Majdag, very nice; but how to find those flower gardens if no one tells you more precisely where they hide?! . Everyone who experiences it live surely keeps it as a big secret!

.. Zlatica thanks, we live in a time when some are capable of destroying everything beautiful. Just so no one else enjoys the exceptional beauties...

Although it was still a proper snow shower in the morning at this altitude, a bit lower just rain, by midday it was a really nice, almost spring day. No snow on the path anywhere. The path is muddy in places, especially at the beginning, as water flows over the path in places. Higher up some fallen trees across the path, which it would be nice to remove. Remains of the archaeological site nicely restored. You can see quite some effort was invested (read: EUR). Worth it if you don't know where to go for an hour or two.

As part of the mountain camp for youth we climbed to Ajdna. Of course we went up the normal path.

Hello! Is the path currently http://hribi.net/izlet/potoki_ajdna_/11/498/843 in reasonably good condition ((un)marked, fallen trees, etc)? If I want to go from this starting point (Potoki), to the summit via the climbing path, then probably I shouldn't turn right higher up directly to Ajdna? I assume I continue to the junction Na Sušeh (i.e. Valvasor hut?) and only from there or from some earlier junction to this path: http://hribi.net/izlet/na_suseh_ajdna_plezalna_pot/11/498/842? Return will be via the originally mentioned easy direct path Ajdna-Potoki. Thanks for help.

I was on Ajdna about a month ago but only from the junction at Sušeh to the top via "climbing" and down easy path was ok.

I leave the car at the bend between Koroška Bela and Potoki (Soteska) and first find a clearly visible path across the railway and pasture, which disappears immediately. I turn slightly right into the forest, then along the clearing past numerous pits and water collectors. Soon a nice, leaf-covered steep path appears to me, climbing along a pronounced ridge to an unknown summit. No cairn on top, just two holes, in one remains of a fire pit. For a moment I lose the path, continue down towards a pronounced saddle. At the saddle I find a path that occasionally gets lost in real jungle. A bit up, a bit down. Since it seems to me more down than up, I decide to go my own way uphill. Not to mention the ticks, bottles and plastic buckets lying all around. Yes, foresters leave all sorts behind. I cross some rails, clearing, Sevnik stream, and after crashing and fighting through all kinds of forest growth finally reach the marked path. The path is quite eroded by water and soon widens into almost a real road. Not long ago it was just a path, now they have dug everywhere and made a road. When I reach the junction where it said "Ajdna not passable", curiosity overcomes me as to why. And I found out . The path has been abandoned for a long time, so it soon disappears and then reappears, helped by some cairns; in the end even those run out or I didn't see them . I go by feel, crossing dozens of fallen trees. When I reach the col where the marked paths meet (from Valvasor and from Potoki), to the Ajdna summit there is just some steepness left. After 10 minutes I reach the top. It was sunny and warm, views not too far, but goal achieved. After an hour of meditation I head back the classic way to Potoki village, then another cca 15 min walk along the road to the starting point.

Midday, when the rain eased a bit, a rainbow appeared over the Karavanke. No time to take a photo, already rushing to Završnica. First to Smolnik, then further to Ajdna. When I arrive under Ajdna, light rain again. No problem, it's nice to be out even like this

Two guides Jože and Miha, group of trainees, we started the path on Saturday in Završnica. After a good hour of ascent we had gained about 500 m and reached Valvasor hut below Stol. The path towards the top is more slippery, crampons not needed. But winter gear is necessary for the ascent to Stol. We continued the path to the Ajdna archaeological site, where the ruins are nicely secured, as well as parts of the first Christian church in Slovenia. The last bit of the path is nicely secured with cables. On top nice views towards Triglav, Mežakla, Jelovica, Pokljuka. And of course Karavanke, from Dovška Baba, Golica and Stol, the highest, like on the palm of the hand. On top we learned more and more about rocks, clouds and winds... pity that not everything stays in the head. Descent on the other side a bit snowy, careful descent, but also additionally secured, more cables than before. Walk back to the hut, followed by the theoretical part. The hut is nicely arranged, clean, good food. Besides us there were also Croatian trainees at the training. It already pulls me to Stol in spring conditions, and also to Smolnik and Peči...

Smolnik and Ajdna... In Završnica there is a new starting path to Valvasor. It starts at the parking exit. All paths are dry and nice, also the rocks to Ajdna. However, towards the top there is a pulled piton on the climbing section, which doesn't hinder the approach to the ridge. Views wonderful and trip great. Not imposing the trip, but happy to share photos for those who can't manage it themselves. Spring is here and it's nice. https://jelenkamenmajdag.blogspot.com/2020/03/na-ajdno-k-prednikom-pogledat.html
