Darinka, from your additional pictures I see that a crag martin is nesting at your place and not a spotted flycatcher. Sorry that I misled you a bit

No harm done. Interesting bird. Even if I'm nearby it feeds the chicks. The cat watches from the roof because it can't get there.

Who can we turn to for help if we encounter an injured (wild) animal in the mountains or elsewhere in nature - but it's too big to take to the vet ourselves? The hunting association? I know I'm obliged to report every such case to the responsible people, but I know what kinds of hunting "help" there are... And how about abroad? On Saturday I saw this chamois in the mountains, which later turned out to be fine - but the question came up anyway. Thanks in advance for the answer(s)!

Marjan, I had a similar case many years ago above Bavsica. My buddy and I were heading towards Planina Bukovec when in Tesnih I see a small chamois lying there. I approached it slowly, and it just looked at me calmly. I got right up close, talked to it quietly, but nothing. I checked if it was injured, but nothing visible. I even petted it, still nothing. Not knowing what to do, I went to the stream, poured some drink and filled water, and gave it to the chamois to drink. And it drank from my hand. What to do was swirling in my head, and since I didn't know, I decided to carry it to Bavsica, where I personally knew the TNP supervisor. I pick it up, it does nothing. I carry it, nothing. Then it hesitantly showed it didn't want to be carried anymore, I gently put it on the ground and it slowly heads to a nearby rock and lies down. I quickly went down to the valley to the supervisor, told him what and how, he instructs me that I shouldn't have carried it and that it's good I informed him. He went up right away to check. My buddy and I went elsewhere, what happened to the chamois, I don't know. But I got the tip then that in such a case there's nothing wrong with going personally to the nearest police station and reporting the incident, they then notify the hunting association. Whether that's actual practice or if official guidelines are different now, unfortunately I don't know. Anyway, an interesting question that I hope I never have to deal with again.

in nature everything is arranged just as it should be and any human meddling only harms

Humans are part of nature, we "interfere" with it just by breathing..

It's right to intervene in nature when necessary, e.g. setting up feeding stations for roe deer in winter, when animals depend on human help. We can also help birds survive winter by hanging suet cakes and scattering seeds. So certain "interference" is very desirable .

The little birds are growing. In a few days they'll fly away. They were falling from the nest, so I gave them a basket for more space. The parents feed them.

Darinka, don't fall from some ladder when you go so close to them

I don't have a ladder. I just climb up. I had to pick them up because they fell from the nest which was poorly made.

Today the starling hurried like this, picking from the ground after the mown grass. The sparrow helped it. Flashlight wasn't needed

At ours they pick from cherry top. If no fence there's enough for all.

The wren lies in the nest for several weeks now for the second time, warming eggs. She has woven a new nest even closer to the house.
