Today at Zelenica I saw this. But maybe someone knows which animal species it belongs to. It looked like a web/cocoon containing a bunch of small brown worms. Some webs were already empty, these in the pictures looked like they were about to burst and open.
I have to say I've never seen anything like it.

Thanks for the reply miri. But aren't the nests of pine processionaries on trees? These nests were on the ground, no trees nearby. And Zelenica is at 1.500 meters.

Madeira, it won't be pine processionary. This bunch of caterpillars was right next to the path in the middle of the meadow on Velika Planina.
